Bit Bid.com

Hello,

I just wanted to let everyone know that BitBid.com is live now! :D The site was developed by the same people who developed Bitchar-gmotors.com.

I hope you guys visit and start some auctions and make some bids. I am having a no charge fee until the December 11th.

If you guys like it I hope everyone will start using bitbid.com instead of E-Bay. E-Bay is too broad and expensive they don't care about us tiny rc lovers! Atleast here we have a focus and a start of a community and we wont take most of your money from your sell!. lol So help me get this enigne warm and running! Can't start a succesful web site with out user interactivity!

If you have any questions about it or comments on how to make it better please feel free guys. I am up for it. I just want to help make this a great consumer to consumer site. :)

And if you guys want to know even why I have fees (not too high and not until December 11th) is because I spent a ton of money to get that software to do this or other wise I wouldn't charge anything. hehe :D It haves most of every feature E-Bay does and if not I am sure the upgrade that is coming out soon that they are sending me will have even more features and user abilities!

I also welcome bigger web sites to come start auctions. Like TinyRC if they are interested. I offer a lot of categories to make the search for what your looking for more narrow.

Thank you for your time. :)

I'm dissappointed

I'm very dissappointed.

I opened an account anyways, but it wouldn't let me use ONT for my "State" even though it's a province, and it wouldn't let me use K2S1J8 as my postal code, because it required numbers.

It's not Canadian compatible! :(

... (I registered under "FreaKuency" and put my state to ON and my postal code to 90210 because it's the only US postal code I know)

BitBid.com 11-30-2002 04:16 PM

Thanks for bringing that to my attention. :) I am sorry. I will have to talk to the developer about that. The upgrade version they have coming out they are sending me says internationalized as one of the features so hopefully it will do that! Sorry I will announce when the upgrade is installed and then go back and edit it and it should work. :) ;)

this may be just me, but i think the "other" section is usually better on the bottom :D
one thing that may help, is a better logo/header...sorry i think the bitbid logo is a little too small, and aligned to the left....
should be moderatly in the middle...
i am willing to make a header if youd like FOR FREEE :D, and possibly a slogan...ive done a couple headers for sites, and forums before...ill see what i can do, if you want me to.

other than that, good idea, and i hope all goes well.

BitBid.com 11-30-2002 04:23 PM

Well, the software automatically orders the categories by alpha. The header I wanted to keep simple. I could also make a better header but I want to save the space for the database and images that will be on the server. Or else it would cost me more money. I plan on making it look a lot better. But it is mostly database oriented if you know what means? Once more people start auctioning and putting galleries up it will look more fuller and that will help. Thank you though.

Thanks for the luck. I spent a lot of money on this software so I hope it takes off. If you want go ahead and register maybe you'll want to sell something sometime. :D

one way to reserve space for the future, is to to tell sellers DONT MAKE YOUR PICS SO FRIGGIN HUGE!!...but in a nicer way :D
im an ebay guy, and just annoys me to see a 6X as long of a page to sell their item...
you could also tell them to keep it at a maximum size...like...75-80kb for each image or something...

BitBid.com 11-30-2002 04:44 PM

Well I am thinking about offering storing pics on my other site bitchar-gmotors.com and they can just link from them for free. They can just tell me what pics or a link and I can put it on my server where bitchar-gmotors.com there and that would be easier. And people only have to know what the name of the pic is.
e.g http://www.bitchar-gmotors.com/picname.gif

I use e-bay for everything else other then bits. I am hoping to get all those e-bayers that sell bits there to come here! I mean the only people who look there anyways already know what a bit is so noone new goes there to get them. If they go to my site it is more open to newer people because it is not hidden behind toys/hobbies/rc/minirc/ ect.

MTL 11-30-2002 04:57 PM

hopefully u wont see:
"*NIB 1000 BIT CHARG STYLE CARS DUTCH NR LQQK" blah blah...ohh maan..thats just funny

BitBid.com 11-30-2002 05:01 PM

lol That is what the other is for. ;)

It's up to them if they want to sell it. It is the buyer who needs to look for those things. hehe

I am thinking about putting up more items for auction. Maybe more people will be encouraged to join and bid Ect. I put that first one up for people to get the idea and to also bid on it. Maybe that is too much money for a brand new bit?

payaso 11-30-2002 09:21 PM

That's a friggin GREAT idea... Maybe if E-bay didn't charge so much of your profit, people wouldn't have so many S/H scams goin on....

Yeah,

I am not looking for taking anyones money. I am only charging fees (Not until december 5th! Take advantage!) so I can make back the money that I spent on the software. lol

There are some items on there now. I hope you guys enjoy. :D

I will be putting an faq on there it will explain more details and dispute ideas. But leave feedback like you do on ebay and that should help also. :)

By the way. If you want to compare me (rates) against e-bay or anyone else you can register and go to sell an item to see!

But sign up now and post your auctions! I am only doing this free until December 11th!

You can use HTML to edit your item description! So you can put as many pictures in as you want as long as it is either linked from another site. Like most of your avatars or if you contact me and I can put it on one of my servers to store for you to link there. :D

Or just go here!

Remember! Free auction posting until December 11th!

:D

Ovgron 12-01-2002 03:42 AM

What?! I have to pay to post an auction!? It better be like $.5.

Stridex 12-01-2002 12:46 PM

BitBid.com

Maybe TinyRC.com and the other boards you're advertising on should charge YOU to post! There has to be better ways to make money on auctions. Think quick, cos I doubt you'll make enough money to reinstate the domain the next time it's due with this method. What will be the fee btw?
