Tyco Fast Gear
 

I was at Target today looking for a $20 microsizer, but they sold out on Sunday.

While in the R/C section, a new Tyco car caught my eye.
It is a Fast Gear. It is full function and runs on 3V. I bought the 27MHz Dodge Viper, but they also have a BMW Mini and a Chevy SSR Pickup. I don't know what the scale is , but it is 5 1/2 inches long and 2 inches wide.
I haven't even run it yet!!!
I'll let you all know how it is, maybe even get some chassis pics if my camera will allow it.

OK. I ran it on the carpet in my house and the speed is not bad.
It is a little noisy in forward but quiet in reverse.
The steering is done similarly to the Bits, where is it magnetically activated. It works rater well on this car. The steering can be adjusted like the Bits with a lever underneath.
The transmitter/ base uses a 9V battery and has a whip antenna. There is a channel underneath and alongside it to store the antenna.
The body is held on by screws. On the Viper model, the rear wing/rear ground effects need to be taken off first, held by 2 screws. There are then 2 in the front, 2 in the rear, and one in the battery compartment.
The motor is a common train-type that is flat on both sides. It looks like you could swap it out with a stock or modified motor for an HPI MicroRS4.
The electrinics look simple. No SMD stuff. Almost looks like you could get repalcement parts at RS. If a schematic can be found or produced, there should be some easy performance mods to be done here.
I don't see much room for more than 2 batteries, but it may be possible to add them under the body.

hmm...that reminds me, there are these awsome looking Nikko Viper and NSX at Cuircuit City...i was about to get the NSX because it looked soo kool, but ill get it later

btw...i saw that viper at walmart hehe..

I have 1 personal opinion about tyco/nikko...their body styles are always ugly. I know that looks similar to a viper, but come one the Tomy bits are tiny and have far better detail.

It makes me sad to think they messes up a beautiful BMW Mini body...

how much was the kit?

Either way...anyone knoe of a 1/24 scale plastic BMW Mini model or body for my Mini-X?

Boy, that thing would be fun with a Speed 300 in it...maybe 6 cells.

I wasn't really looking for high detail, but the fact that it is full function for it's size.

It was $15 at Target.

I just bought the Mini Cooper one.Now it has awesome detail..

I undid the hidden antennae and put a hole through the body for it and doubled the distance.For $15.00 I am happy with my purchase, however I will not be happy till I mod the piss out of it :D :D

Well, I returned mine today because I don't think I'll actually use it. I have a soft spot for Vipers.
With 2 Microsizers and 2 Bit Char-Gs on the way for Christmas, the Tyco car would have become a shelf warmer.

I saw that today at target myself. I was loking at the cooper though. All i could think of was how horribly huge the controller was.
