My Baja VW Bug (Johnny Lightning Thunderjet)

Made another interesting discovery. SOME (not all) of the Johnny Lightning Thunderjets bodies fit our mini RC cars. Here is a webpage with just some of the bodies:
http://www.playingmantis.com/jl/prod...p?productid=60

The bodies are made of light-weight plastic and they are made to snap right off. When I first tried these I made a stupid mistake and bought the convertible vette. These were the right size but wouldn't fit because there was not enough space for the PCB/chassis inside of them.

Then, I bought the Baja Bug. Fits nicely on my Bit clone. I just need a fake plastic motor to attach to the back of the body :)

You can find a ton of all different Thunderjets on ebay cheap. Just do a search for thunderjets. Here are 3 Bajas:

I ended up getting the one Baja for a total of $7.50 (includes shipping) but there are many people selling whole cases (12 different cars) and they sell for around $20 shipped like this:

There are also 3-car-lots that sell cheap - like this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=1785704218
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=1785381562
(I can't guarantee that any of those will fit)

Just remember to look at the body and try and determine if there is enough room for the chassis/PCB to fit inside it (and don't get the convertible vette smile.gif

I am almost positive that this body will easily fit too since there is plenty of space inside of it for the PCB/chassis:

One thing you could do to save on shipping is to ask the seller if they would just send you the bodies and not the chassis or the box - you won't need either and you might be able to save a bunch on shipping if they are willing. I sent 4 bodies by themselves last week via USPS and it only cost me (and the buyer) $0.83 ;)

Enjoy!

Brian
