Why would 3rd TX battery bost range?
Just curious...some of you guys have added a 3rd battery in series on the TX and say the range has increased.
Looking at the schematic, I don't see how that is possible, unless somehow more current is getting through to the antenna, but the low-pass filter just prior to the antenna looks pretty limiting to me. |
I know next to nothing about electronics, but this weekend I added the AC/DC adapter mod to my car. I elected to use a switchable voltage 800 ma adapter because I eventually want to make the dual battery (in series) mod on the car and I want to be able to charge them both by connecting the charger wires directly to the power.
Anyway, performing several tests with the voltage set a 3V and then at 4.5V, it would appear that I get about 10% more range at 4.5V than I do at 3V. I've tested this in several different rooms several times, and it seems pretty consistent. I don't know enough to venture an opinion as to why. |
think of it like a garden hose. you turn it up say half way and water shoots out say 10fee. you give it another full turn and it goes 15feet.

Yup, you are correct sir! Voltage is equal to pressure. When you up the voltage (and the current BTW when adding a third battery) you push a much stronger signal out of your controller. It does work.
