Bit Transporter
Just to christen the new sub-menu, I'll put down my idea for a Bit Char-G race transporter...
I've picked up a 1:64 race transporter rig on EBay (the 1 or 2 year out of date ones are cheap), and as soon as my Char-G stuff arrives, I'm going to start looking into converting it to Char-G-Power. The only real problem as I see it is getting the power to the wheels of the tractor. I'm thinking that slot-car parts & gears could really come in handy for this. Has anyone else tries a mod this extensive who'd like to share the experience? |
schoon, what a great project! I think for the rig you'll want to either go with dual cells and then use an extra axle and extra step-down so that you have the 2 rear axles both driven from the same motor, or perhaps instead one motor driving each axle. Either way, there should be plenty of space for an extra cell or two in the cab. Do you have pics of the transporter? This might help in trying to envision how it could work.

Pic Soon
My digital camera is off with the S.O., so there's no pic rapidly forthcoming. However, here's a URL where you can see another one...
Transporter As you can see, all the machinery is going to have to be in the cab, and just the driveshaft and gears to the wheels will be in the rear. On the plus side, there's plenty of room in the cab to work with. I'm thinking of mounting the motor "sideways" and running a geared-down shaft back to the rear wheels. |
that sounds cool, here is a wedsite that has a picture of a bit semi maybe it will help:)

Chassis
Yup. Seen the site in my quest for information.
He essentially keeps the Char-G chassis, however, and builds the tractor on top of it. I'd like to keep the Hot-Wheels chassis and install the Char-G components into it. Kind of an apples and oranges thing. |
Wow, I hadn't noticed until today that you could click on it for in-depth info, this thing is amazing!

Yeah, he really went nuts, including some very impressive custom circuitry. I'm afraid that level of sophistication is beyond me - at the moment. Hmmm, I wonder if Amazon has books on basic circuit design... :D

I'm guessing they sell like cardboard haulers. I saw a optimus prime and another one that looked the same just different logos
