Which Bit?

Which Bit Char-G platform would you buy based on price, quality, and brand?

ylexot 07-14-2002 08:17 AM

Really, I have no preference between Microsizers and Bit Char-G's. For me it all comes down to bodies and frequencies. However, I just learned that the Australian version (Compact Char-G I think), comes with a 2.2 motor. If the Microsizer are the same, it would slant me towards them.

tinyrc 07-14-2002 11:03 AM

ylexot, do you know if the Compact Char-G is an official Tomy product? The TT Tree above includes a 2.2, and is equal quality to the Tomy, but cheaper.

ViperKid 07-14-2002 12:44 PM

what is a TT-tree, is that the bullet?

tinyrc 07-14-2002 04:13 PM

No, the TT Tree is identical to a Tomy, even the packaging is the same with only the names changed.

ylexot 07-15-2002 08:51 AM

Yes, the Compact Char-G is the official Tomy Aus/UK version.

Any word on the Microsizers? Right now, Tower Hobbies is showing Mid September, but they were also saying Mid June a few months ago.

tinyrc 07-15-2002 09:34 AM

We have yet to place out first order with them; I will check with them RE availability, I'm not sure why Tower would list them as so far off, they are available now. Maybe Tower allowed pre-orders and have sold off several months' inventory already.

ylexot 07-16-2002 03:53 PM

Are you sure? I have yet to see anyone say they found Microsizers, have ordered one, or have one.

I did some searching and found nothing saying they were out including the Microsizers web site (you'd think it would mention it. It still says "Coming Soon".

tinyrc 07-16-2002 07:17 PM

I haven't seen them myself but DansAm told me his LHS had them. I've emailed my contact at MicroSizers to confirm that they are currently available - I'll let you know what they say - thanks!

SSJChar 07-16-2002 09:18 PM

So the TT Trees are exactly like the bits? cool, cuz i had 2 bullets, and i was quite disapointed with the turning, and the fact that one was WAY faster then the other, but had a shorter chargelife.

ViperKid 07-16-2002 09:37 PM

that's weird, did they have different motors or batterys?

tinyrc 07-16-2002 11:53 PM

SSJChar, yes, the TT Tree is an exact clone, as is the Huale:

(although the Huale offers bodies not available from Tomy).

ViperKid, the Bullets are all identical internally but tend to vary. The Bullets have a much better battery than regular BC-Gs (150 mAh NiMH!), and funnily enough my fastest BC-G is my silver CLK which just happened to come with a crazy fast 1.0, there's nothing special about it, just a fluke that the motor happened to be way more powerful than average.

tinyrc 07-18-2002 02:42 PM

Update: We've talked to the makers of MicroSizers and they will not be available until Mid-August. We will be pre-ordering them and stocking them as soon as they are out.
