New RCP Track Tiles/Rails/Discs for the Mini-96, dNaNo and HPI 1/32

We are manufacturing some new tiles and rails for the Mini-96 30cm kits. The new kits will be coming in on our next container shipment. The new items will be a great addition to your current tracks and will work great with the Kyosho dNaNo and new HPI 1/32 scale RC cars.

~ The idea behind these new pieces are to allow users to set up tracks in their home or limited space similar to slot car type tracks. Each complete section will allow a rail to be installed on both sides of the tile. Currently it takes 4 tiles and rails to make a 90 degree transition. The new tile design will incorporate one complete section to make the full 90. See pictures below.

~ The new straight sections will incorporate 4 straight tiles into one complete section. See pictures below.

~ Users can put together their tracks more quickly and can layout the tiles just as you do with slot car tracks.

~ We have also added a large radius outside/inside turn section. This will allow users to make large chicanes and also be able to wrap the turn around the standard 90 section. This will allow a larger track to be set up in a smaller area as there is practically no wasted space between sections.

~ We are also making some 360 degree discs that can be installed at the 180 degree turns and 90 degree turns. The discs will add some color to the track as well as giving the turns a more realistic feel and look.

~ All the new tiles and rails will connect up to current 30cm RCP track kits. If users want to increase the lane width, they can install one of our current 30cm sections and then add a blank tile to increase the width in 12" increments.

~ We are looking to add the new tiles into (2) new kits. The first kit would be called the Mini-24, which would allow users to set up the same size track as the Mini-96. The second kit would be called the Mini-12, which would contain enough pieces to make a track half as long as the Mini-96. The Mini-12 would run about half the cost of the Mini-96 and Mini-24. We may also add a Mini-48 which incorporates the 30cm tiles, so users can add them to their track if they want to increase the lane width. The Mini-48 will have half the pieces included in the mini-96.

New Kits

Mini-12 ( Includes the new large one piece sections and will allow users to set up a track half the size of the Mini-96)
Mini-24 ( Includes the new large one piece sections and will allow users to set up a track the same size and length as the Mini-96.)
Mini-48 (Uses the current 30cm tiles and allow users to set up a track half the size of the Mini-96)

I will have pricing available for the new pieces shortly.

We are working on 22.5 and 45 degree turns to make layouts like below. This will allow virtually unlimited amount of layouts. All sections will connect to current 30cm tiles.

Tentative pricing on the new parts is listed below. Actual cost may be lower once we get closer to release.

45's......$3.50 per section. (includes tile, rails and PINS to make short turn)

22.5's.....$4.00 per section. (includes tile, rails and PINS to make large radius turn)

Straight section which incorporate 4 standard 12" tiles into one 24" x 24" tile...$7.00 per section. (includes tile, rails and PINS to make one complete large straight section with rails on both edges.

We are making them now. Pricing and pictures shortly. Although we are making the new pieces now, we haven't finalized on how we will package the new tiles, so any input would be appreciated. We can include the 45's and large one piece straights in a separate expansion kit and/or include them in with the mini-96 kits. There are a few ways we could go.

We expect delivery of the new pieces here in the US at 30 ~ 45 days. FYI, we are making the 45's and one piece straight sections first. The sections have a rail on both sides and will interconnect with the current 30cm track kits. It will take two 45 sections to make a full 90 turn and the new straight section will incorporate 4 straight tiles into one piece with rails on both sides.

The bridge and large radius turns and one piece 90's will come after.

i would suggest continuing with the expansion pack model. the base mini-96 is a great entry level set providing the foundation to build on, to suit the owners taste and whim via the many optional expansion packs.

poor comparison but like any video game that offers expansion packs separately.

there is something unique and desirable about limited release track sets using some of these special tiles. i'm not sure how that fits into the sales model but it might dilute the lineup if you have a dozen base track options without expansion packs as someone is going to get stuck wanting something that is only included in another base package. offering a dozen base packages with expansion packs may be too much to deal with on the inventory, packaging, etc.

i'm ready to make some purchases though ;)

Sounds good arch. I am looking to create a combination expansion/base kit that contains (12) 45 sections and 10 one piece straight sections.

This quantity of pieces would allow users to make a track half the length of the Mini-96. Purchasing two kits would allow users to create the same layout as the mini-96, with the ability to use the 45's by themselves, rather than together as 90 degree sections. Using the 45's by themselves will open up more track layout options in addition to those already being created with the standard mini-96.

The price for the 12/10 piece kit should retail around half the price of the Mini-96. The new 12/10 kit could be used as an expansion for those who already own mini-96 tracks or as a base kit. As a base kit, users can set up small layouts in limited spaces as well as a simple figure eight layout.

Hey John.. it's Jimmy

I'm looking to make a small dNaNo track for my back yard... I'm considering a 4x8ft setup and I would like some info on these smaller tiles so I can start working on layouts... I have a layout designed already based on 10" wide track sections that I was going to cobble together this weekend, but if you're new stuff will work, I'll wait... but need the info... thanks

Jimmy

BTW.. I can't see the pics you posted earlier in the thread (post #4)... all I see is a black rectangle

Hey,

Are there any news or release date about these new tiles ?

RCP-Tracks, Inc 06-15-2010 08:12 PM

They should be here by 45 days. We have been working on another new track product and decided to wait and bring everything in around the same time.

Fixy! 06-15-2010 08:47 PM

Erf so it's bad news we have to wait :(
But also good news that more new products are coming :)
