Transformers Zip Zaps

There's new Zip Zaps coming out. They're not in the Radioshack computers yet, but they will be soon:

Bumblebee (600-0181)
Barricade (600-0182)
Optimus Prime (600-0183)

That's good news. It's good to know RS has not totally abandoned ZZ's. I thought the Car's ZZ chassis, were the best. They were fast, had lights, and the controllers were very good. I use them to control all my zips now. Hopefully they'll start making real car bodies again, but if the Transformers chassis are as good as the Car's ones, I'll buy a bunch of them.

The Transformers ones ARE real car bodies. Bumblebee is a yellow Camaro (either the new one or like a '67 or something), Barricade is a new black Saleen Mustang police car, and Optimus is a blue Kenworth semi with red flames.

Nice find truckian!

Can't wait to see how they do these.

these are character cars from the live action movie. to learn more about the movie and cars see this fan site, http://www.seibertron.com/movie/index.php

I'm particularly interested in Barricade. I'm wondering if the ZZ version will have a working light bar. Very unlikely, but I can dream...

I've heard about these, but these are the first pics I've seen. Looks like we may get a Pixar type chassis with a movie tie-in body thrown to us every now and then.
I'd prefer to see SEs continually improved with cool body styles, but I suppose this is better than nothing. I wish they would at least use the wheel nuts like on the MicroGTs so the front wheels could be removed. Getting the fuzz outta there can be almost impossible.
Still, I'm glad to see RS hasn't completely killed the product.

Found a clearer pic of Optimus on the RS website.

Anyone know which motor is used in the Pixar and presumably in the Transformers cars?

Working backwards from the published speed data with the ZZ Speed Calculator I get a motor speed of 12,500 RPM.

My assumption is either they are using the Blue 10,000 RPM motor with larger wheels/tires or the Green 16,000 RPM motor with smaller wheels/tires.

My guess is the Green motor.

I just noticed something....

Nowhere on that ad does the name "Zip Zap" appear. They're just "Micro RCs".

Maybe the Zip Zaps are dead after all? In name that is.

better pic, not mine BTW.

Yeah, you are right about that. They seem to have the new Pixar Zip type controller. Definately look like Zips with no logo. Interesting discovery Truckian!

No, it say's Zipzaps right above Only at Radio Shack. They may as well keep the name. As far as I know, it's a good brand name, and not many have anything bad to say about it (mostly Bit fans).

Odd. I must be a lot more blind than I thought. I was only paying attention to the text, not the little logo. Nevermind, I'm just crazy.

Same here. I swear I didn't see the logo before. I blame it on conspiracy websites, lol. It was Nick Rockefeller!
