Some research.

I picked up a 1/64 semi-tractor and wanted to find out who made it. The US Patent number 4,563,626 was issued in 1984, so that was useless.

The FCC ID number QKX680 got me useful info. Go here https://gullfoss2.fcc.gov/prod/oet/c...ericSearch.cfm and enter QKX in the Grantee Code box and 680 in the Product Code box. Scroll down and click Start Search. (Leaving out the product code gets 9 products.)

That got two entries for Golden Technology Electronic Toys Ltd. If you're interested in the electronics of the transmitters, click on Details. (Curiously, both listings are for a round transmitter, not the oval one that came with the truck.)

Armed with the company name, some more searching turned up www.gt-toys.com which has gone 404. :( According to Web Archive the site last existed in Februrary 2006.

So it looks like if I want more of these cheap semi-tractors, I'd better grab them now!

Where did you get the semi-tractor? Pictures? Perhaps I can help identify your truck.

Here's a side view pic of both the 49 and 27 Mhz trucks. (The white one is 49Mhz.) They're in several different paint and sticker schemes, but only two bodies, the one with rear fenders is always 49Mhz from this vendor.

Other pics, top, bottom, front and bare chassis are in the attached zip.

Note the motor is backwards from the Bit Char-G and clones and the ZipZap. It's also connected to the reciever PCB by soldered wires. There are two cells in that lump above the PCB, which makes it rather topheavy. Attempting a turn under power flips the truck on its side. The wheelbase from front wheels to the first axle is approx. 1.75" or 45mm. The second axle is just a dummy, elevated a tiny bit off the ground on a smooth surface.

Cut off the rear, flip the PCB and put the cells down inside and it'd be a great chassis for mildly stretched bodies. :)

The controller holds three AA cells under the screw secured cover. The charge LED doesn't go out if the truck is removed before being fully charged. I didn't time it but the initial charge took at least three minutes, maybe more. Later charges don't take so long.

I have a 27Mhz Cyclona Bitchar-C and the 27Mhz truck responds to its controller- with fore/aft directions reversed but steering correct directions though the truck's steering stutters/pulses. Apparently it uses the same direction signalling but the buttons on the controller are reversed due to the backwards motor.

If some other company is making these trucks, it'd be nice to know. I bought another 27Mhz one which I'm hacking up for a project. If it goes well I'll be needing more of these trucks.

Sorry, I haven’t a clue as to what you have but if they are cheap enough you might want to buy a few especially since they appear to be out of production.

Are they fast like a ZipZap?

The only other small trucks that I know of are very sophisticated Japanese made semi-tractor trailers that I believe are out of production and sold for over $325 each.

I have the white one on the top. It was only like 12 bucks I think. If that.

I got the trucks at King's Discount On sale for $2.99 at least through Easter. They also have Cyclona Bitchar-C cars for the same price.

These trucks are plenty fast with 2 cells and a controller that gives them a nice, long charge every time.
