Problem w/ reverse...
Just got a 2nd microt off the bay for my g/f and it seems to be binding a little in reverse. It starts out real slow even at full reverse, then all of a sudden "breaks loose" and jumps up to full speed. It operates smooth in forwards. I tried loosening up the transmision screws a little to see if it was bound up, but it didn't help. Other than that, it arrived w/ the new tie rods from losi and the other two pinion gears(which my first one purchased in Early dec. did not) and is somehow much quiker stock than mine with bearings and the smallest pinion... Any ideas on the reverse thing are appreciated.

First off, CONGRATS on having a g/f that'll "play" with you! ;)
My Wife's got ZERO interest in my R/C hobbies. :( First off, let's get the fundamentals out of the way...The Micro-T electronics are set to DISABLE immediate direction reversal. Which means if you're going forward and immediately jerk your finger on the control to go in reverse...It will NOT immediately respond, but rather come to a quick stop, then all of a sudden go in reverse. This is expected, it's a safety mechanism against over wear-n-tear on the gears. ...But if you're already aware that the Micro-T does that and the reverse issue is something above and beyond that, then here's some suggestions: - Play with the slipper a bit. Tightening and loosening it, see if that helps at all - Take the whole tranny apart and grease/lube the gears up just a tiny bit, then take care in making sure everything meshes properly on re-assembly. - Hold the micro-t in the air by one of the rear wheels, then run it in reverse for a few minutes...Then do the same on the other side. This should break the gears in a bit Good luck. |
Thanks for the advice. Already aware of the delay from forward to reverse,
but this is more of a lag once it starts moving in revo. Even with the car in your hand(wheels spinning free) it is noticable. I will take the tranny apart and lube everything a litlle. It's not really a problem because it has a consistent throttle curve in forwards, it just kinda bothers me. As for getting my G/f involved, it is not easy. I also have a Jammin crt, Nylint Crawler, and a TLT crawler in the build stage so it is hard to justify the $$$ I have spent. She has fun with the micro, just needs a little time behind the controller. Thinking of buying her a clear body so she can paint it pink or whatever to get her a little more interested. Anyhow, thanks again for the advice. I know the micro-t's are pretty new, but I like the fact that on this forum I can ask a question and get an answer other than "Try searching":) . Will |
Well, it looks like I fixed it.Ended up playing w/ the slipper a little and running it upside down, seems to have freed up. It now works great with the slipper at any setting! Thanks Namuna!
