A Crawler

Here's a crawler I started a week or so ago. I've done quite a bit to it, and it is my first crawler. I don't know what got me started, but I just have to build more! Expect to see many crawlers from me in the future, each better than before.

To the crawler.

Here it is now. I'll explain mods along the way.

Just a view from the side. Not finished yet, of course.

The body pretty much sucks. It didn't turn out anything like planned. Expect a new body when I can find one. The stuff I did anyways: Extended flatbed, rollbars, cut windows, netting on frond window. And that piece of paper has been taken off.

I added a 4th gear to start out with. I have A zzse servo ready to go(chopped and framed) and will add that later. You can also see I've started a waterproofing by balloning the batt.

I also put in a green zzmt motor for the steering. Big difference! Thoes tires will turn anywhere anytime!

And of course I'm sure your wandering about the tire chains :) I made them from a necklace I bought for two dollars. Each section was cut off of the necklace, then spliced back together to make the chains. They were a PITA but really look nice. And amazingly add a lot more traction on carpet and snow that I've tested it on.

MODS

Chassis lengthend
Artic
Flipped and Weighted wheels
Custom tire chains
4th gear
zzmt Motor steering
CAT5 ant
Custom raised body for more artic

Just some artic pics. Action pics comming soon.

Man, I have to say that I've never seen anyone put a zzmt motor in for the steering motor. Did you have any other zz, perhaps a red or yellow motor to use instead? You might be able to get the body mounted lower with a different motor. I'm sure that thing doesn't have any problem turning the tires though.

The chains are amusing. Get that pcb wrapped and go bury it in the snow!

how you make the chassis??? can you put any photo to see the bottom??? i wanna make one like this but i donīt know where i must start.
And , by the other hand, i read in other post that people put on the ZZMT the SE servo, why?? can someone help me?
thanks from Spain: DAVID

I made the chassis by doing the articulation mod to it, like on here : http://bitpimps.lixlink.com/pages/ph...pic.php?t=6991

Then I cut the drive shaft in half, extended it, and put it back together.

People use the SE servo to get more torque, or power. It also slows the monster down a bunch, much eaiser for crawling.

Good luck!

I used 2 servos with the pots removed for the drive system and made the 4 link out of carbon fiber rods. Another servo with the pot removed for the steering and all other electronics are stock ZZMT.

impressive

heat shrink the chassis and poke 2 holes on ea side near cpu parts that heat up like servo for a sleak and stronger design
