This is the best ZZ site I know of for the info you seek.

hobo_racer 11-20-2006 06:53 PM

thx but it didn't really tell me how to gear down on a 1st gen zip:(
never mind...i looked at the adding another tranfer gear. any more help would be nice

Adding another transfer gear should help. There's not much room to work with on a zz, but I think you can fit it on there. Make sure you have good gear mesh too.

What do you want to lift? The body or overall ground clearance?

hobo_racer 11-21-2006 06:48 PM

more ground clearance would be nice.
I will try and put the new transfer gear on the bottom for more lift.
Wouldn't i have to put in 2 new gears though so it will spin the same way??

You could slow it down to crawl by doing a mod that I was credited the idea, which ZipZap Monster Truck Gearbox Using a ZZ SE Steering Servo.
Quote:

The idea was suggested on a forum by E. Nigma, and as far as I can ascertain, has not been previously developed.
I was the guy E. Nigma that was mentioned in that mod page from back when rcmod.com was around. Anyway, I've done this mod to all of my ZZ MTs and it works wonderfully
