I was doing the duel cell mod on an og zz and accidently broke a couple of the tiny steering wires and was wondering if there is any way to fix them or should i just save myself the frustration.Thank you in advance.

I sent you an enail, but generally you just scrape the insulation coating off the tips of the wires and solder them back together.
I did a forum search using the keywords "steering wires" and searched in the ZipZap forum. 75 threads came up. You should browse through them and see what info you can get.

well I busted the steering wire on my other regular zz trying to see where they go to fix the 1st one.If someone could post a good diagram or point to one showing where the wires attach to the board I'd be very greatful.

If I remember right, there are 4 wires. Two from each coil. Of the four, two are colored with a dark blue or green like someone did it with a felt marker. The two darker wires hook to one connection, and the other two have their own separate connections. So, you got 4 wires and three connections I think. I'll take a look and see what I can find out about getting something for you to see.
EDIT: I just found this quote in another thread by Clint.
"you'll have to desolder all the wires, including the tiny steering wires, from the zip zap pcb and resolder all of them back onto the booster pcb.
the boards have labels next to the solder joints in tiny white letters .ie V+ V- L R F B..just make sure you solder the wires to the same functions on the donor board."
Look on your board and see if you can find these letters. The L and the R he refers to are the steering connections for those two wires I mentioned earlier. Just hook the left coil to L and so on. The two darker wires will go to a common connection around these. Take a close look at your boards and let me know if you can figure it out before I tear mine open.

Ok ty for the info I shall give it a try.to me all the fine wires to the steering just appear copper color and hair thin.this may be due the the fact im red green color blind not sure.I'll try to search more for a good diagram and see what I can figure out on my own.I just wish they were not so darn fine lol.

If you have any advice on soldering such fine wires that would be appreciated too.thanks again.

Hehe, those coil wires are a real PITA, to put it mildly <LOL>! I've swapped out PC boards on several of the original ZipZaps, and the only tips that I could give would be to use an extremely low wattage soldering iron, and ensure that you thoroughly tin the wires first before soldering the actual connection.

Either way, it's quite difficult (for someone like me who has big 'ole fat manly fingers <LOL>!), but do-able nonetheless -:)
