Full Rear Wheel Drive
 

Well, this is pretty much my first mod on ZipZaps. Here goes...

Ok, well this mod took me only 2 hours and I only used an x-acto knife(Namuna:D). I did a little more cutting than I should have but the gears mesh quietly. Now I haven't got it wired yet and I will try to make it able to switch the motors easily. Enough of me talking about it, it's no bother if I don't have a pic: Yes the gear isn't very straight but this is a start, right?

Sorry man, but I don't get what this mod is? :confused:

sorry I guess I can't give a cool, descriptive name. I made it to where instead of having the gears on one side of the car it's on both. I think it would give it more torque?

Edit: I want to add another motor right above the other pinion gear. It fits and all but I need proper gear meshing.

I'm no expert. But honestly, I don't think it would make any difference. In theory it would help, but in this case I just don't know.

Yeah I would want to know if it would help because it sure is questionable, huh? Has anyone even seen something like this.

Yeah It shouldn't make a difference, unless you had 2 motors for each side, or a extended motor shaft that goes through the back. then theroreticaly it should run a little smoother.

Oh ok I missed that part. That makes alot more sense now.

The two motors with one driving each side is a decent idea. Again, without faster gearing, you're only going to gain torque and acceleration. Getting a motor to each of those gears might be a little more difficult than you think. Remember, the gearing has to be the same.

I have a lot of torque steer problems with my tri-cell purple SS motor ZZ. I considered doing a double motor with slower motors and increased gearing like your setup to try to get away from that.

I've used the name Jazz32 for a very long time, and it was from Malone. Had I known he was going to sell out to the Lakers with the likes of Payton (who never deserved the ring he just got), I probably would have used Jazz12.

For my tri-cell ZZ with the SS motor, I first tossed the pcb plastic cover. Flip the pcb and there is enough room inside to stash 3 batteries. I used Solder strips along with the wires. I bent over a strip on both sides of the car attached to the batteries. I charge it by attaching wires to those tabs and using a 6V source.

The SS motor was just aligned and super glued into place. It worked really well until one of the solder strips broke. I haven't had time to go back in and fix it. I was actually going to try to weigh it down a little because it had major wheel spin, even with the higher gearing.

Oh yeah, I also added a switch so I didn't have to charge 3 batteries each time I used it.

I never thought to use super glue to hold down the SS motor that is a good idea. I was going to use a custom motor clip for that but this is more simple thanks.

I was wondering the same as Snake Mod about the name. It's cool that your a Jazz fan and it came from Karl Malone.

Hey in the night when we dropped you off at your house, I found an area in the body to put 2 batteries in and be able to close the top, too.:) And I'm going to be putting a SS motor in mine as well.

Well it looks pretty cool.

But unfortunately, about all you really would have added with this would be a little more rotating mass, and extra friction. Unless you've got both wheels able to act independently, or had a problem with one side spinning before; I'm not really seeing how this would be much of a benefit over the old Dual Motor mod where you lowered the stock motor, and mount another meshed into stock the idler position. I mean, the solid steel axle rod does a pretty decent job of keeping torque matched between both rims.

But it's an original idea and looks cool!

thanks frizz that's what I thought but I just assumed it would give the axle more balance between torque but yeah i'm probably ditching the whole mess but it does look pretty sweet. The friction doesn't play a huge role in this "mod" it all runs smoothly but using the orig. gearing is just fine.;) read e-mail beans
