Evo Bearings and Truck problems
I got my bearings today and installed them on my Hummer. Improved the wobble 200%. All the play is nearly gone. Much better. Best part is the ability to clean 8 of the bearings simply by pulling off the wheels and brake hub. The axle and 2 bearings slide right out.
While swapping in the bearings I did discover a design flaw with the lift kit. The front wheels when the suspension is compressed bow outwards at the front. Not too bad with the stock suspension but adding the lift kit aggravates the problem. As the front end is pushed down the lower arms go up and push the bottom of the steering knuckle out. No problem till you realize the tie rod does not allow the back of the knuckle to move out. Thus as the suspension is compressed the back of the knuckle goes up and down while the front goes up and down as well as out. A design flaw with the lift kit that can't be readily fixed. |
This has been a known issue for some time. Doesn't really effect the drive quality though. Just looks retarded.
:blift: <Kinda fitting. |
