MT duals? Well, maybe not . . . .
|
HAha..DDDDAAAAAMMNNNN!! That's killer hehehe. Not sure if the steering motor would turn dual fronts, that's insane. That thing wouldn't even fit on my track, it's got to be like 5 ZipZaps wide!
nice detail work on the body! |
Duals
Dude sweet...Hey put duals on the font and then seal the tires and see how well it does on water..thats what they did with monster trucks when they found that they could float. do it
|
Steve--
Just think of all the lead weight you could pack between the wheels! Some day soon I'll move the duals to the front just to see of what the steering is (or isn't) capable. The width is 3.9 inches (20.8 ft scale?). Like farm equipment on rural roads, about all you can do is wait until they pull into the field--you just can't get around 'em when they're that wide, though your MT could likely crawl over mine. No work on the Hummer H2 body, except for the new antenna hole. It's a body from the 60-7044 starter kit, one that I picked up as scrap from a Radio Shack store. I think it works well on a monster truck. I still have several LM3909 flasher chips around and will build two sets of flashing lights to put in the Hummer. There's enough room between the top of the car and the PCB cover to wire in several more battery sets in parallel with the existing one so the flashers have their share of power, too. Then there's this crazy idea of putting a 600- or 700-mAH cell phone battery on the thing. Charge it overnight and run it all the next day? chilli |
HOLY CAMOLEY! That's AWESOME!!
Yep yep, looks just like rural-road farm equipment... and I'm sure that CM is aware that I know *exactly* what I'm talkin' about ROTFL! Again, GREAT JOB!! |
makg--
Just what I need for some Sunday afternoon entertainment! Tell you how we'll do this (please forgive my skepticism): You send me YOUR favorite ZZ MT, along with the four extra wheels and tires (all sealed). I'll put the duals on it, take it down to the Wabash River here in Terre Haute, and see just how far across it will go before it sinks. I mean, if it can't get across the Wabash, what good is it? I have controllers for both frequencies, so don't send those, just the truck. I'll install a long antenna in my controller so controller range will not not a factor. How long an antenna do you intend to send with YOUR monster truck? Will it have a fishing bobber on the end? We'll need to make sure reception is good no matter how much it sinks. Oh yeah, since my friends from the press will be there to document this, make sure you send your very best MT body--can't have a bad looking one for the public to see (for as long as it will be visible). And make sure the body doesn't look anywhere like a fishing lure--there are some big fish in the muddy bottom. The Wabash is running a bit high right now, so the current will be strong. Maybe I can get Vigo County's search and rescue to man the boats downstream in case the MT's battery runs down. I'll ask them to keep the grappling hooks handy in case it's coming at them underwater. The more I think about this, the more it has possibilities. A tournament, perhaps? A whole new type of ZZ racing? No offense, makg, but this is just not my thing. I had enough of that in my profession from people who thought they were great enough to WALK ON water. My dualled MT is really not that great. I just don't see a great desire in my future to know if my MT will float. If I do try this, however, I'll be sure to post pics. There's gotta' be places in Alaska where you can do this! chilli (retired clergy with a ZipZap-sized sense of morbid humor) Rich-- This should be the ideal mod for you, running your MT in the woods--ought to skip over pine needles like a sweet breeze. Almost idillic, pastoral, but not quite heavenly. I hope I've not started something here; my imagination just got carried away this afternoon and I couldn't help myself. I suppose I'll be banned from the forum? mea culpa Gene |
duals
not to be a smart guy, obsessed with chilli person but i have done it and it actually works if you do it right. and you can shove your wabatash facts and alskan theories up your *** fyvk
|
actually, that sounds like a challenge! The first ZZ to cross the Wabash! I can see the press now...
I say to hell with the radio all together, just set it to go and not stop till it hits land or perishes into the depths! Oh, and I know nothing about the Wabash river, what are my chances? AND, if I do send the truck, you have to promise to make a video of it. hehehe |
...and in case paddling across it isn't an option, what about jumping it, ala rocket powered Evil Kaneval style?

B: CM was simply making a light-hearted reply... if you can't take a joke, then stay off mummy's computer and off of the Internet. c: ZipZaps of any race, creed, or color are not meant to swim. One may mod them in such a manner, but they are *still* not designed to do that. D: Many similar things that I've read on the Internet (not just the above said topic), many times resulted in "I DROVE MY TOY IN THE WATER AND NOW IT DOES'NT WORK!!!!!!!!!!!! PIECE OF CRAP!!!!" (ummmm.... dduuuu--hhhhh). E: Post reported to the mods of the forum. (Edit) F: Grammar and spelling are always a plus on the Internet -:) |
Yeah, float? If you try it, start with a thing of really shallow water (bathtub?), probably not go more than to the hubs until you prove it would float
Dude, I could totally see that with building up like a John Deere body, which would be pretty wicked, but otherwise... |
duals
yea bathtub sounds best not a river. and rf angel, its not my "mummys" comp. its mine because I paid for it unlike your self who is probably 20 and living in their parents bacement. alright Peace

Either way, I still feel that you owe CM an apology for your reply  Quote:
@CM, How about a new paintjob of JD green with yellow trim? That would look super! -:) |
Guys, keep it civil. makg just wanted to see if yours would float, you've got double the rear bouyancy, and there've been a few threads on the board trying to make the trucks useable in water. chilli_mp138 just wanted to say "I'd rather not do that with my ZZ-M" but went a bit overboard thinking real world scale instead of Micro world.
I think we can ALL agree it's a pretty trick mod, that would look really badass with a hand built Agriculture body. And that you ought to tell us what all was involved in doing that. http://www.deere.com/en_US/deerecom/usa_canada.html http://www.masseyferguson.agcocorp.com/ Now, quit fighting and both of you get building. :) |
