Problems.

Recently (last night) I picked up a suspention/steering kit from rs. I installyed new springs, tried it out, and my car drove even better.

30 minutes later, i decided to install a new tie rod (4.0 degrees).

After I installed it, my car goes half the speed with the body on, and the same speed with out it...Also, it seems as though my stock differential is making a whole bunch of noise....

Another problem. My car only reverses half the time, and the motions of accelerating, and reversing are very choppy.

PS: Suspention/steering is the only upgrade I have.
PPS: I also took the batteries, and antenna of while I was doing the upgrades.
HELP ME!

Oh, one more thing. Eventualy, my car does get up to 3/4 of the origional speed...It just takes a reaaly long time. My acceleration is poorer that dirt also.

Thanks.

Common guys! Gimme some help!

the only two things i can think of that would cause your problem is that your front tires are on too tight or where you have your 4.5 tie rod in and now AWD then there is more friction then when the stock tie rod is in. Maybe you should try putting the stock tie rod back in and see if you still have the problem, or you could try installing and AWD kit, and they are on sale at radioshack now for 15.99.

also make sure the wheels aint touching the body, and that there isnt binding (possible cause of noise)

also thanks for telling us your a newb, i beleive u got lucky today because most people would have told u use the search button

-note: im not most people and am happy to help as long as the prob isnt too obvious. i.e: "hey i ran my xmod through a puddle to make a splash but now it dont wrk, crappy rs product i knew i shoulda bought a miniZ the extra 100bux means its beter" although there funny, they get old.. but gl with ur car

--note: im not a fan of miniZs and if u dont like it just email me, no need to waste forum space

Ah, you just lucked out, because I am here. :D

My One suggestion is that you make sure your batteries are fresh before you go tearing it apart because it's moving slowly. ALWAYS check this first if it suddenly starts slowing down, because 99.999999999% of the time, this is the cause.

heres the rule of thumb

NEVER USE ALKALINE BATTERIES, use the rayovac IC3's or the radio shack batteries

Make sure that everythings in place, all the screws are in

if worst goes to worst, bring it back to RS

Thanks guys....I found the problem.
Its my differential... The noise has stopped now, so has the non-reversing.

My car is back to normal.

Btw...Whats wrong with alkaline batteries? I know NiMH are better....

Does it matter which rechargables I use?

PS: Im getting an all wheel drive kit soon, so that should help alot with the differential.

Rayovac IC3's, 15 minute recharge, cheaper than the shack version
