Question about range
hey guys...
got a spiderman hummer MTZZ and a couple of regular ZZ (both jeep colors). I was messing around with the regular jeep ZZ (wow...very weak compared to the MTZZ) and I noticed that they have horrible range. the MTZZ have great range and power. my question is do the MTZZ have the same range as the SE's?? and are the regular ZZ (gold and green jeeps) have such bad range cause they are first gen?? I am not even gonna be able to use the two caues they are just not fun. p.s. by short range im talkin like 5ft. the MTZZ has about 20-30ft. and yes i tested all fully charged with a fresh set of batteries thanks! |
What are the frequences of your Zaps in question?
As a (very loose) general rule, a 49MHz transmitter will have more range than a comparable (same power output) 27MHz transmitter. For the non-SE ZipZaps, the range difference can be quite large. As far as the SE ZipZaps, the transmitter puts out a bit more power, as well as having other differences compared to the non-SE ZipZaps which usually fixes the range problems associated with 27MHz verses 49MHz transmitters. Something to help range a bit, ensure that your chassis antenna wire is as straight and vertical as possible, as well as holding the controller(s) perfectly vertical when racing your Zaps. |
If the frequencies are the same, it could be that the antenna is getting more power (6 versus 3 volts) giving you increased range.
