SE Front wheels.
hey people
has anyone taken the wheel off the knuckle yet? is it possible to do it without breaking it? the thing is, one of my front wheels doesnt spin very good and it slows my car down. i figure its clogged with carpet fibers and stuff. |
yup , since it's friction fitted you loose a bit of plastic each time you do it.
Probably no more than twice. You will have to strip it right down before you do it. http://www.MyOnlineImages.com/Member...ZZSE wheel.jpg |
You gotta be careful with the suspension springs. they might fly out into your face or somethin...(ouch..)

Just like k_manNZ said....... It is possible to remove the axle from the knuckle on the older SEs without damaging it. (1st and 2nd generation, I believe) Unfortunately, you can only do this only once or twice because the axles are friction fitted to the plastic knuckle. This means everytime you take it off or put it back together a little of the material is removed and the hole the axle fits into gets too large to hold the axle. I read somewhere it isn't possible to remove the axle from the 3rd generation SEs. IE: Viper, GT, Mach 1, Corvette Before you pull the whole thing apart: see if you can get some of the debris out with an x-acto knife and some needle tip tweezers. If you work at it for awhile you should be able to work free a lot of the hairs and fuzz tangled between the knuckle and the wheel. I hope this helps...... |
