NML stage 11 questions
Hey, it's been a while since i've posted, but here goes. what i want to know is what this motor is capable of, i have Li-Ions, wide track bearings, a CF driveshaft, and AWD and of course a few other things but i have stock fets.
1. How fast is this motor? 2. How much torque does it have? 3. Will it fry my fets? 4. Are there any other motors that compare to this one? 5. Is it worth the $30+? thnx |
It's just a regular machine wound regular, run of the mill, every day FK-180SH motor as far as I can tell. Same thing with atomicmods.com's 180S high torque. Might have different brushes installed, but I dunno. It's got a bucket and a half of torque, due to the larger magnets and the high number of winds. It'll probably do about 21-23mph on a speed checker w/ li-ions, and it pulls less amperage than a stage 2 :)

oh yeah, and do u guys know of any good 180 motors with the caps already soldered to the motor, i can't find any |
NML's are hand wound aren't they?

I suppose it's possible, but, regardless, for 35-50 bucks, you can buy 10 or 20 colgate motion toothbrushes and wind them yourself ;)
|
I thought about that but i have no clue how to wind them, so i guess i'm stuck with a premade one. i still can't find any with the caps or wires soldered on, any help would be appreciated thnx

you really shouldn't say anything if you don't know about NML motors. I have seen NML's motors and I know his skill. Just check out minizracer.com and you'll see lots of guys running NML motors. 10 or 20 spinbrush motors aren't gonna be as fast 1 NML motor. anyways platinum_player if you just wan to mess around I'm sure that motor you linked should be fine. |
Colgate motion motors are FF-180SH's. Grind down the can and slap on a 130 endbell and brushes, and you have an FK-180SH plus some.

Thnx guys, i've got it narrowed down to the one of the NML motors. i like that one but he's got the new big block one now and it's a beast from what i hear, but it costs $50 so i'll have 2 think about this one. hmmm........

nml motors
his motors are handwound.

you should checkout performance xmods new 180. I got one from him and it did 26mph on the speed checker. I use six cells, 10 tooth pinion with blue plastic gear. With 11 tooth pinion it would probably hit closer to 30mph,espeacialy if you had carbon fiber drive shaft. this is good speed with lots of torque.

Why would anyone take the time to handwind a motor and not even bother to put brushes that wont burn off on it? Sure, silver brushes are great conductors, but theyll also be gone faster than you can sneeze at them and theyre not too great at standing up to higher voltages.
