Charger clip on PT Cruiser problem

I broke down and bought a PT Cruiser (27 MHz) for my dad the other day and upon trying to clip the car onto the remote/charger I found it nearly impossible to get the damn thing on. After a good amount of forceful repositioning I got the car to clip on, only problem was I couldnt get it off! I literally had to force the release button down with a pen cap to get the mechanism to release the car.
I returned the Zip yesterday for a replacement Cruiser only to have the exact same problem with the new one. Upon closer inspection I have noticed that the center metal prong is bent much more than the one on my other (good) remote. I was curious if any of you have had a similar problem. I'm pretty sure I could fix it with a pair of needle-nose pliers, but I'm just gonna keep returning it until I get a good one.

ya, driving to RadioShack and going through all the paperwork to get a refund then getting a new one, then driving back home is way easier then bending a small metal strip a millimeter or two.

I love subtle sarcasm

Thanks for the positive response shape. The fact that I shelled out $20 for the damn thing and it doesn't work the way it's supposed to never crossed your mind I suppose. Ever thought that it could be a manufacturing problem that they don't know about yet?
Anyway my local RS is less than 10 min away, and they just handed me a new ZZ (no defect) with no paperwork or hassle.

Thanks for the help anyway...

sorry to hear that you had trouble with the zz you bought... i have purchased four so far, but haven't experienced this problem...

the units do not require a lot of pressure to properly attach for charging... one shouldn't have to force the car onto or off the charger... i hold the car by the sides, then line up the controller latch to the hole on the carriage bottom, then press on lightly until a slight click is felt and the controller LED turns from green to red...

a slight press of the release button should release the car...

i'm at a loss as to how your car/controller didn't line up, but yes, i'd return the car for a new one... and you're lucky the store had one in stock! you should have bought another one at the same time!

btw, i did see a returned unit at my local RS... the clerk let me take a look... the motor wouldn't turn, even though it charged... i took off the shell, and of course, the motor latch was screwed down TIGHT...

i guess people don't read the instructions?
