Tire question
My daughter wanted a Xmod because one of her friends brother had one, so I got her one. (Man was that a mistake!) It has been years since I had an RC car so I thought what the heck, I'll get her one. I had so much fun with her's, that I went a little CRAZY and had to pick me up one too. These are cool. So now I feel like a teenager again and its been quite a while since I was a teen.
Now my question...Can someone help me out with some tire knowledge? I recently got the tire upgrades through Radio Shack and I was just curios on what situations to use the different tires. There are hard and soft slicks and hard and soft treads. Is any better than the other? Any help would be graciously appreciated. XmodDad |
In theory, the soft slicks should give you the most traction and wear out the fastest. The hard tires last longer and have less traction than the soft tires. Treaded tires are for better tracion on less prepared surfaces; slicks are better on well prepared surfaces.

heres what i found:
i use the treaded/or non treaded softs on my laminate floor (much like wood) i use either set of hards outside on blacktop because they drift well enough to turn and they dont get as dirty or it doesnt matter because you wont drive those tires inside anyway... i tried the softs outside and i didnt see any positve difference but the opposite with the hards they really are better! (dont do it on smooth cement not enough traction) also im just curious to which car models you purchased |
by the way welcome to the forum
