Aftermarket Wheels
I just received my first XMOD yesterday and am wondering what kind of aftermarket wheels there are for it beyond the RS wheels. Also looking for metal wheel nuts. Found some at Tower Hobbies but seems like a waste to buy just them.

There are a couple of places that make custom aluminum wheels for the Xmod, but they aren't cheap ($25+). The wheels that you saw on TowerHobbies are for a Kyosho Mini-Z and won't work on an Xmod without some modifications. The Xmod wheels have a "D" hole in the center, where the Mini-Z wheels have a big round hole that bearings mount into.
There is a guy over in Germany that made his own Mini-Z to Xmod adapters out of cast resin. I'm hoping to get a set made within the next couple of weeks. With those adapters, you can use any Mini-Z wheel available. |
who's making these wheels bugman? im intrested.
|
This is the main place that I was aware of that had the wheels, but they are currently out of stock. The gentleman's username that was producing the wheels that I linked is craftsman. I haven't seen him post in a while, so I don't know if he can be reached.

where can i learn more about those wheels adapters?
|
Go to this link and scroll down until you see posts from "cooldragon". He is from Germany and his english is a bit rough, but he does a good job explaining otherwise.
I'm trying to get him to send either a set of his adapters or a single one for me to use to create a flexible mold from. He also explains another way of making the adapters if you have an extra set of Xmod wheels lying around that you don't mind cutting up. |
Craftsman is still making them and you can contact him directly at wjhecox@yahoo.com .
BTW: newbitowner can you Shorten your sig to 3 lines of text. It is hard to tell what is your sig and what is your message! |
Something wrong with XS?
That's what Bad Company used to have on his GT-R, may still. I really like the Touring set, kind of like NSXs'. |
