Hi guys, i havent posted in a while, but I'm back. All right, I was on Ikinari's website, reading about this steering mod he did. He said he got it from this other website. I'm not really big into electronics so I was wondering if someone could tell me what this is and where i can get one.

I screwed up the last post and now I can't post a picture on it so here it goes again.

yeah this mod rocks. its pretty simple. i have it on all my cars. really works wonders in handling and turn radius. i wish the xmod was full propo tho cause steering is twitchy.. i used 10k resistors like ikinari did but the guys on xmodworld use 3.3k's which work fine too. its pretty easy if you can sodder. if you have some old bit controllers like i do you can take the resistors from there! whooot free resistors! just look for the right ones then just sodder them in like in the picture. with the 3 wires going to the pontimeter thingy... sodder in the resistors to the 2 side ones. i had to sand down a bit on the posts that the sideskirts screw into on my skyline, and dont forget the chassis too and the tie rod.:p

you had to do that because the tires turned too sharp? maybe thats why rs made the wheels turn so little.
will this mod make the servo center better? i just tighened the bottom of the steering knuckles with some heat shrink tubing and the servo doesn't completly center like it did before.
does this also stop the studdering with a 6 cell mod?
are there any differences in handling between a 4 cell and a 6 cell xmod?

http://www1.bbiq.jp/ikinari/xmods/ heres his site. if you look around you can find the mod. you just clip the tabs that stick out where the tie rod goes and if you have fwd or awd you have to clip some of the tierod off so it doesnt bind to the red shaft pinion gear. also i noticed my wheels rubbing so i had to sand some of the body.

nah it doesnt help with centering. youre just gonna have to lube the rods or find a way to loosen it. all the mod does is alter the current to the pontimeter allowing the servo to travel more.

i have no clue how it would affect 6 cell.. since i dont have any cell modified cars. in handling, i would think the extra cells would throw off balance and add weight to the car affecting overall handling like cornering and acceleration but they might help in keeping traction to counter excess power.

i really like how the mod affected fwd handling. my little rsx can corner on a dime! (just keep from throttling too much and understeering) with rwd it helped me alot so i could get more countersteer.

What purpose does the potentiometer serve. Does adjusting it do anything? As I understand it pots are meant to be adjusted, no? Perhaps simply adjusting it would serve the same purpose?

Spin, you mentioned "you just clip the tabs that stick out where the tie rod goes ". I'm sorry, but I don't know what that means. Will I need to do this with RWD? I need to pass the french site through bablefish. Is there an english translation of this already someplace? The diagrams look like they indicate protions of the rods that need to be modified.

hey i took apart my bit clone controller and found some stuff. i was wondering if somebody could tell me which resistor(s) to use. thanks

heres a close up on some of them. this is as close as i could get with my camera.

Do we need to remove the electronics from the car to do this? The piocture above looks like the guts are out of the car on a table. Is there enough room to work if I just take the servo out of the spot it is in without taking out the entire board?

that picture isnt of an xmod pcb its another controller for a tiny car.

then no you cant do the mod without taking that stuff out. theres simply no room. you cant get to the servo without taking it out.

pull out the servo, sure, but do I need to take out the entire main board?

yes i think you have to take everything out to get the servo out. you need access to the back of the servo to open it i believe. its not very hard to pull out the guts and put them back in if you know what you're doing.
