Torch or Iron?

What do you guys use to solder peices together? Im making some freaky articulting monster type of truck and was wondering would would be better. Im about 60% done and have just been using a torch, mostly because it makes the soldered point much stronger than the soldered point done with a iron/gun. One problem i keep getting is that because its all metal, the heat will transfer through and desolder other joint. I plan to make this a off roader, so i want it built strong.

Hi Ovgron,
in this size its the same by using torch or solder. In every case its strong enough.

By using a very small flame you can use a torch to build the mainframe. But you have to fit the small parts o a ceramic or the torch blow it away ;-)

It is also strong enough to take a 60W 5mm wide Solder Iron. Bevore soldering you have to clean up the brass-parts.

I dont like solder-guns. They are very heavy weight and so its a problem to keep your hand in a definied position for mor than a fwe seconds.

If fix the parts o a wood-frame and solder by using a light-weight 60W "Heatcontroled" solderiron. It works very good.

best regards

Thorsten
