TinyRC.com XMODS Tires

The most important part of any car, regardless of scale, is the tires. All the power and all the handling in the world mean nothing without the ability to put it to the road. One of the things I've found frustrating about the XMOD is the inability to hook it up properly for a given track due to the complete lack of tire selection. So, we're considering producing TinyRC.com XMODS Tires. They would be standard sized rubber slicks (w/ the D ridge, as required by the XMODS wheels), or if people prefer, we could offer them with a pattern such as the Rain Tread that is popular w/ Mini-Zs. We would produce them in different compounds, e.g. 10d, 20d, 30d etc, to allow softer rear, harder front, etc. Please use this thread to offer your ideas, interest, feedback etc.! Thanks!

How about thicker tires that will increase the diameter, and possibly drag slicks???

I almost forgot, another Idea I've been pondering a tire purpose made to adjust to the camber-happy characteristics of the rear suspension, high profile on the outside, low profile on the inside..

I attached a crappy mspaint diagram to give you an idea of what I'm talking about.

I'd much more like to see a treaded tire than slicks. The bigger footprint flat tires theoretically offer is only as good as long as the tires are clean - if there's any dirt or tiny pieces of something on my tires, the whole things gets thrown off. And then there's always the issue of water not having anywhere to go.

I'd also be interested in seeing some wider tires produced, even with aftermarket wheels if there's no conceivable way to retrofit them to the stock RadioShack rims.

wider tires and deep dish wheels to accomadate the tires?
i would like to see aluminum XMod wheels.
use the X-pattern tread like on the Mercades E430 Sport.

can't wait for the bearings though. hope they come in this week.

ohhh new parts. at least some one is making them. ive been thinking of that too, Akira36. maybe not that drastic as in the pic though. bigger tires. anything but slicks. maybe paddle tires. theyd work good on carpet and give you more ride height. i think. how about some tires that are bigger than the car. get 4 of them or 2 for the rear. make some bigger/longer half shafts to put them outside the body. i have some tires just no way to mount them. ill post some pics in a few minutes.

i think the tires should be round too, oh yeah theres a great idea.

how'd you like to see this thing barreling towards you?

meteoraclown 03-19-2004 07:03 PM

nice tires but if you put it on, then you will have to rig the front susepnsion to not make it drag.

tinyrc 03-19-2004 07:37 PM

Great ideas guys, keep them coming! :)

you may need tires that are 2x thicker than the stock ones for the front with my tires. but my front shouldnt drag. i cut the bottom of the bumper off because of that.

How about some alloy rims too

More choices are good. Any thought of selling alloy rims too?

meteoraclown 03-20-2004 06:57 AM

ohh you guys can make some metal locking lugnuts. that can be better then the cheap plastic ones.
