The antena must have touched a battery terminal. Unless it still works you need a new resistor...or PCB.

it still works but i have low range on my car . its like a feet away at the most. where do i get this pcb?

RC 2NR 01-27-2004 11:06 AM

Name: PCB ASSY RECEIVER
Part #: 12414207
Price: $9.49

This is from CJ's XMods FAQ

Just go to your local Radio Shack and order it there, or call 1-800-THE-SHACK.

You will have to resolder 4 wires on the new PCB, it might be easier to get a new resistor and resolder it (or have somebody else do it for you).

soo...........the burned part is a pcb or a resistor?

SuPrBuGmAn 01-27-2004 07:54 PM

Actually, its an inductor.

L2 = 0.82uH or 8.2uH (grey red silver) or (grey red gold) respectively

If you can solder, you can fix it without buying an entirely new PCB.

So, what's the difference?

SuPrBuGmAn 01-27-2004 08:31 PM

The hell if I know ;) I'm just using the terminology found in the thread with the fix.

 It looks like you just threw any inductor or resistor you found, and then soldered it to the wrong side of the board.

weba2nkill3r 02-09-2004 08:15 PM

sooo.........now wat?i have no experienced wit this thing except soldering

look for "Extended Range?" in the XMODS>XMODS section. there is a fix in there. and you have to try it. if you still have bad range try flipping the one you added around.
