Newest Zip Zaps/Radio shack catalog

Looked at the Radio Shack display guide for zip zaps today. The next car released will be a volkswagon beetle, Sponge Bob Square Pants steering a boat, Patric the Starfish laying on a rock, and a group of bodies from the cartoon "The Wild Thorneberries." A monkey driving a car, 2 other characters in cartooninsh cars, and a suv/mini bus like vehicle.
Personally this is not what I wanted to see. Where is the classic dodge daytona with the huge spoiler or GTO, hell I'd take a maroon Dodge Caravan before a monkey in a car...compare this future of zips with the new bit motorcycle.

Holy mackeral! I knew about Sponge Bob...But a Monkey at the wheel?...I am so TOTALLY gonna buy that!!!!

No sarcasm either! I like monkeys!

Come-on Namuna, you can't be serious! Zip Zap bodies are superior to bits because their bodies are better proportioned for the proposed scale of 1:64 The bit bodies are squashed and "bubbley." But zips are now throwing away their accuracy by creating outlandish body shapes. If I want something with two engines or a rocket body I'll just buy a Hot Wheel or any bit clone. I want a radio controlled 1:64 scale model of a $40,000. auto.

"I Want"..That's the KEY phrase my friend. You want the 40k car, while I'd LOVE to pickup a Spongebob and ESPECIALLY that monkey driving the car!

Any chance you got pics?

Wish List...

I like monkeys, too but I'm with Slacker on this one.

Here's what I'd love to see:

Mad Max's Turbo Interceptor
Vector W8
Lamborghini(s)
Ferrari(s)
That car from the new Spyhunter game!

The photos were in a 4-6 page guide on setting up the zip zap display. One store had it "zip tied" to its display and another store had it in a showcase, neither store would let me take it. I'll try again tommorow at another Radio Shack. Also the sponge bob had factory hub caps, you would think sea shells or starfish hub caps would have been created.

PS: Realism is good, but I think movie cars like the Delorean from back to the future or a Mad Max Road Warrior series would be worth my 10 bucks.

Got the inside scoop from an RS employee that the VW will not be released this year. They are slated for a January release.

The Spongebob rims are custom. They are solid silver covers. You could paint seashells on them, but I think wheels on a boat look funny already. :D

I don't think any of the cartoon character based cars had a release date next to them...but I thought the green beetle was slated for november. Of course if the demand exceeds supply I can easily see an 03 release date. Shackey, did the employee mention anything about other bodies, frequency, or kits?

Gah!
I can understand cutesy bodies for kids but sheesh. Add some more cool American car bodies! Or German ones or something!
IMO

Bit Char-g and DigiQ are not suppose to be realistically correct. they are both SD of the real car. If you don't know, japanese people like to SD all their anime characters and their cars. Choro Q has been around for 20+ years

haha yep ive played most of the ChoroQ games on the psOne and one on the Ps2

The monkey sounds like Darwin from The Wild Thorneberries.

From some press anouncement the "The Wild Thorneberries " and Spongbob are designed to give something for girls/women to bring them in and buy zipzaps.

Hum. So they are going to have Patrict on his home or the rock that Spongbob drove in one of the shows. Strange. Micro Q's have ladybugs as one of the body types.

On more cars I bet it cheeper to do a license for things derived from a show than pay for the body style of a car. Wonder if they could get with Mattel/Matchbox to supply bodies?

Some possible nice car bodies. Hint hint hint!

Batmobile Both TV and move.
MysterVan.
General Lee. { Does not need to jump! ;) }
Raptar Waggon.
Bus from Partridge Family. { I like busses! }
Semi Truck { Mac, Peterbuilt, etc. } { Like trucks better! }
Thunderbirds FAB1 { Yes that darn pink car! }
Thunderbirds 2 { The big green transporter they use }
Fire truck, emergency truck etc.
Speeder from first Starwars Movie.
Space car from Jetsons. { Even with wheels would be fun! }
Night Rider { Ugh but would be easy to do }
Space ships like from Space 1999 or from Starwars or other series

Or something even better. A device to create your own bodies! Would be like a printer or like the ancient Vac-U-Form from mattel that could copy a body from lets say any 1/64 scale car. :)

Can dream!

PS: Forgot one car:
AstonMartin DB5! ;)

No other information on the other bodies, just that the VW has been postponed and the VW and Porsche set has been changed to just two Porsches. The catalog you saw was an older catalog from the release of the Zip Zaps.

Patrick rides a blue bean bag like thing on his back. I don't watch the show so I can't tell you what it is.

I also have to give a vote for the Mad Max V8 Interceptor!!! That would be one awsome zipzap! I'm down with a sponge Bob zipzap also:D

Spitfire7001 10-10-2002 04:30 PM

sponge bob is cool
