Don't waste the 200 bucks on one when you can make your own for half of that.

Looks nice. If you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost in total?
|
Thanks. A little less than a 100 bucks.

Been there done that. After an hour of hard racing you won't recognize your own car. The pvc is really hard on paint. My pvc track is high maintenance- needs a ton of tape to keep it in place.
I ordered my rcp track friday. I can't wait to try it. Hopefully it is the solution to my track problems. |
If you clear coat your car you will have less problems with the paint scraping off. And maybe clear coat the PVC.

or put foam insulation over the pvc...
|
nice work tiger. I did the same thing with the insulation about a year ago, but my cars kept getting stuck under the pipe and insulation when I came in contact with the rails, especially with the low front end cars and other type cars like the F-1. It got so frustrating, one day I riped it all off and just decided to let my car get all banged up. It wasn't all a waste, my kids played with the insulation for days, beating each other up and pretending like they where swords.:)
I like those foam mats. I think they would be much easier to take care of rather than the carpet idea I've seen out there. Ive used carpet to run my rc car on before but it just got real dirty after awhile from the rubber tires and people spilling stuff on it. do yours clean up well? |
Another Idea is to custom make guard bumpers for the car that mounts to the screws in side the car. Manybe out of extra CF board or enven a coat hanger. Just an idea.

Nice but why are all the tracks people are making squared off?
I want something like a real track thats smooth edged... Like this one (Hallett Motor Racing Circuit in Hallett, OK), which is the track I run on in my real car... Hallett www It's got elevation changes, is 1.8 miles long and has 10 turns. |
You can make the tracks curved. It takes more time and skill to bend the pipes properly. Check out some pics from the Z racer sites saw a couple, also some with elevation changes.
