Is it safe to remove the stickers off IC3's?

It's already peeling off so...would it do any harm?

thanks

theMonster 01-13-2004 11:28 AM

shouldn't

The only problem I could forsee would be that they wouldn't fit as snugly as before.

aperson 01-13-2004 11:32 AM

what about the RS rechargables?

Bad Company 01-13-2004 11:42 AM

Other than identification issues, it shouldn't hurt. Just make sure you don't have other brands of batteries without labels they could get mixed up with.

newbitowner 01-13-2004 09:54 PM

I can't get them too charge w/o the stickers on!

theMonster 01-14-2004 02:23 PM

Like I said, it probably reduced the circumference of it and it's not making good contact with the charger now. Wrap some masking tape around it once or twice, that should work.

danny_v_l 01-14-2004 06:04 PM

i don't think i't woulda made a diff., take some wide shrink warp and put it on the bats.,

-aperson, i don't think u can cuz i think its a metal caseing around it, i think thats how all there bats come

theMonster 01-14-2004 06:08 PM

no shrink wrap

shrink wrap has a tendancy to melt and uh...shrink when heated, so I would stick with tape.

newbitowner 01-14-2004 07:28 PM

I can't get them to charge unless I tape the sitkcer on the bat.

I can run them in the car w/o the sticker though.

Isn't the outer shell connected to the negative eleectrode? I think there may be some danger of short circuiting your batteries, because if just peeling the insulative stickers off of your batteries can make them cool off much faster, I haven't seen anybody do it yet. I'd leave them on if I were you... Maybe they won't charge because they're short circuiting in the charger...

newbitowner 01-15-2004 10:50 PM

Yeh, they won't charge w/o the cover one.

eetoi 01-15-2004 11:25 PM

I'd say get some shrinkwrap and cover the cells, then shrink it with a hairdryer or lighter.. Electrical tape might be too thick and I'm concerned with the durability of scotch tape...

newbitowner 01-16-2004 12:02 AM

There's something special about the sticker. I've tried black, masking, and scotch tape.

arch2b 01-16-2004 03:06 PM

newbit,
can't help you with the cell problem but i can suggest you edit your enormously long signature;)

theMonster 01-16-2004 06:20 PM

probably because it's metal based and not a paper based sticker, so it conducts where-as the other things you've tried doesn't. Thanks for letting as know this though, if my stickers start to peel, I'll break out the ole' super-glue before it gets too bad!
