toasted XMOD... in any way salvagable?
 

Well, I was installing a whole bunch of stuff in my XMOD and foolishly I left the batterys in and may have had it on. Now, I pulled out the drive shaft, it touched something inside on the circiut board, I heard a pop, saw some smoke and now every function works on it ACCEPT the range on it is like 1 ft if I'm lucky. What happened and is it fixable?

There are two little resistors right next to where the antenna wire connects to the PCB. Go to a electronics shop or RS with the XMOD and ask them to find the piece..!..
