UPDATED: Pics of my track

Still have lots to do, but slowly my track is taking shape. Tonight I painted the inner white lines (have not begun the touch up work on them yet), and started marking some of the corners with Red/White markers.

Over all, I am liking it. This track is lots of fun and is technical enough to be very challenging. We could easily race 4 cars on it if we only had the frequencies....

Here is a pic of it. If you look on the floor behind the pool table (my track is sitting on pool table) you can see the "prototype" track I had made out of cardboard and pipe insulation.

Some more pics over on my track page, but nothing special:

that looks pretty good so far. I didn't give mine that much lane room though. It'd help have a variable speed controller. It looks good though.

Nice track latency.

To help judge the scale...Could you take pics with a car or 2 on the track? That would be helpful!

Thanks.

Sure thing...here is one...

This is a pic of the track before I started painting it etc....

Actually, you COULD get a total of 10 cars in a race...

- 6 Frequecies from the Bits (27, 35, 40, 45, 49 & 57)
- 4 ID (Infrared) from a DigiQ (or you could do an Infrared PCB mod for the Bit or ZipZaps)

...So what's stoppin ya from racing Bits?

latency, wow! that track looks so cool. sure beats the heck out of my little track (on my old unused ping pong table) =P

...racing bits...

I have no problem racing the bits, but all the guys I race against have the ZZ cars, and well, they would want another "class" of car for the bits....

None of them have bits, so that leave me...racing...myself. ;)

I have thought about a brain transplant though with one of the 35mhz machines. :D

Hey, I was wondering if anyone has tried lego road tiles for a racing surface. I plan on doing this as soon as I get my car.

amsTaTic 10-08-2002 10:11 PM

Wow! You are an out of control BEAST! That is a very cool track :D

Jeez, this stuff is like crack cocaine. if I keep reading this board my wife is gonna leave me....

Oh well, I'll miss here when she's gone ;)

Track looks great. I knew those pool tables were good for something. I haven't played pool in months, but we race our ZZ's daily on it.

Wanna hear the really sad thing. I have had my zips for 8 days. Talk about instant addiction.

I hear that I built a track in 3 days after purchasing my bit clone and around the same time bought two zz's. next is to buy up 4 freq. microsizers to compare everything else too. IMO the zips seem a little cheaply made. we'll see.

ts185r 10-09-2002 10:20 PM

started my own track

I brought home a 6'x4' piece of press wood. I don't know it's real name; I do know it's the same material used on on the cheap wooden clipboards. I spent about an hour drawing out the course. I used hot glue to affix some rg6q.s. (coaxial) for curbs. When I find my camera I post a pic. I do need to lower the body on mine, it likes to jump the curbs if I hit them right.

that could be"mdf" is it pretty heavy and smooth if so thats it i think that would be a little to slick put a paint job could give it some grio

ts185r 10-09-2002 11:09 PM

Yeah it is pretty heavy, about 1/4 thick. It's dark brown & looks like it's tring to inpersonate wood grain. It had to look pretty funny as I drove home with it; I have a Geo Tracker & I had to drop the top to fit it in.
