6 Cell MOD

I have a 5 Cell mod in my XMOD already, im wondering if the 6 Cell Mod would fry the curcuit board or damage the motor or somthing?!?

By the way, I have a Game Maker Website

please don't post if you don't know what you're talking about. if you stft (Search the Frickin' Threads) then you'll see that MOSt people here are running 6 cells.

I installed the 6 Cell and the motor started to get VERY hot.

I guess im sticking with 5 Cells!

should I use a AAA or AA?

Does it have to be the same brand?

Jofir 01-04-2004 12:21 AM

what is the advantage with 5-6 cell?

rplpt 01-04-2004 08:53 AM

you should use AAA.

THey dont have to be the same brand but i HIGHLY recomened it..!..

The advantage you will have with 5 or 6 cells is that your XMOD WILL HAVE as much as 40% more horsepower and torque..!..

I would recommend 5 cells with IC-3's. That will give you 7.25 volts through the system, That will give you over 50% more power (both Horsepower and torque!)

Yeah

Becuz

The RS rechargeable batts are 1.2 volts each.

The Regular Batts are 1.5 volts each.

I would recommend 5 Cells with Regular Batts.

I would recommned 6 Cells with RS rechargeable Batts.

6 Cell Mods make the motor VERY hot tho.

regular alkalines may have a hgher voltage but it won't put out as much current as nimh or nicd. run your car with 4 alkalines then run it with 4 nimh, you'll see a big difference

i no ive tried it

newbitowner 01-05-2004 12:47 AM

IC3's made my car faster than duracells.

I've run 2-cell Li-Ion packs (rated at 3.6v per cell, 7.2v total, but higher at max charge) in both of my xmods for a while now with no problems. Just be nice to it and give it time to cool down between runs. It seems the electronics can handle the extra voltage, but the motor will probably die much faster. Good thing they're pretty cheap!

AAs would work just as well as AAAs if you can get 6 of them to FIT inside the xmod chassis (good luck!).

And yeah, I'd go NiMH or NiCD for the 6-cell mod just to be safe. Even these will read at 1.4v or more at full charge with no load.

Actually, some guy on "the other site" calculated that the alkalines from RadioShack have around 1350 mah, only in the triple AAA's!
