You touched the screwdriver to the screw keeping the antenna in when the car was turned on I'm guessing. Meaning you fried the receiver. Or the remote battery is dead, which I'm doubting.

how the heck does touching metal to the antenna fry the receiver???

hmm...

hmm..well either the batts are dead in the car or the remote. Or, the crystal on the remote or car is not in all the way..Its also posible that you broke bent the crystal(s) a little, and its not getting good contact..check that also..good luck! - dean

if you touched the antenna to ground, for some reason (i'm not an electrical engineer or anything) it ruins your PCB 90% of the time. Only solution that I know of is to buy a new xmod (but this might not be the case, of course, check to make sure your crystal is seated properly, your batteries are all in the same direction --this is the most common problem for me-- and make sure your batteries are full, too)

or you can order the PCB assembly and wait 5 days like me.
(i dont wanna wait til monday!!!)

If you SHORT the antenna to ground I can see how you could cook the board, but just touching it? I don't think so.

It happened to me...

I think it was planetary alignment that did it.
