CF Bodys?
 

Anybody out there can make CF bodys I would like to know, i want the skyline body. If not CF at least somethin lighter than this stock body. I realized just how much was there when i went sawing away at it to accomidate my new antenna, which im still workin on improving.

Anyways, CF, polyuro(that would be awesome) anything lighter and still can be painted, im interested. Thanks

It's really not good to paint carbon fiber...

But anyway, that stuff is mad expensive, and I'm not sure you could really find anyone who'd spend all that time on a single body fabrication for just this one project. Think about it, an actual hood, let's say for a 1991 CRX :D, is like $600. And it would probably take at least $200 to get the stuff, then someone would have to mold it exactly to the dimensions of the body, but the details into it, etcetera.

The only reason an individual bodykit for one of these isn't $200 is because they're mass-produced in a factory with outrageouls efficient machines. The stock body only weighs, what, twelve ounces anyway?

I finished a 1:28th model Integra a few months ago, and my dad got some seriously realistic carbon fiber-effect paint for the hood. You could probably buy a can of that and just paint the thing, although it wouldn't make it any lighter.

yea thats why i mention poly ur for painting. im aiming for lighter too so ya know, goin the extremem lol but thx neways.

The best bet is for someone to buy an inexpensive vacume former and just vacume form lexan over the stock bodies.

They would need to be painted just like a real RC car body but atleast the paint is on the inside and does not get scratched.

my civic with body kit weighs 39.3 grams. (never installed mirrors)
my RSX with body kit weighs 43.3 grams.(one broken mirror)
my supra stock and no rear bumper 38.1.9(I took the rear bumper off to help someone with something and just never put it back on)

OK now a lexan bodies.

My abc DTM-x4 lexan body weighs 15.6.(untrimmed-unpainted)
My mini-x (expres) body weighs 14.5. (trimmed- unpainted)

just something to think about.

Where did he get this paint?

(Premium) Rust-Oleum Metallic, Brilliant Metal Finish.
Probably available at any Home Depot, or Lowe's.

That's completely off topic dude. Take it to the 1:1 scale cars section.

CF is paintable... and a crx cf hood, you can probably get stock look for 250$

Rarely does one buy a carbon fiber hood for the stock look ;), and I didn't say you couldn't paint it, it's just not a very good idea. You take away a lot of the functionality: it doesn't breathe as well, and it's heavier under paint. I'm not really sure how well most paints would stick to it either.

The D16A6 has 108hp, doesn't it?

I cut down the weight of my Civic body by gluing the bumpers, hood, and sideskirts in place, eliminating all of the screws except the rear body mount, and trimming away any unneeded plastic inside the body, particularly all of the posts where the screws used to attach.

Yeah, I'm silly like that.

Actually the rear bumper was done to fit the two additional cells, but I figured why stop there? :D

What kind of glue would you recommend as best for holding stuff in place for the times you hit walls, but not strong enough to corrode the plastic? This seems like a very effective modification for its simplicity.

I'm a big fan of slow-setting CA glue. It's very strong, and fills gaps well. It sets in about 30 seconds, and achieves full strength within an hour or so.

If you want it to cure instantly, you can spray it with Kicker, but be careful, as I've found that many paint types tend to get damaged by it.
