best parts for custom motor?
 

i have been reading all the boards that have to do with xmods and let me tell you all the info is making my head hurt ive written down most of the info i thought was useful and i came across this
"Hybrids are the best setup, IMO.... With the right combination (ie spin brush magnets, stage 2 arm with 5 turns removed, and timing advanced" i forgot who posted it but but it sounds like a good setup but is it the best for the 130 motor?

and as far as the 180 motor i havent been able to find much info about this but it seems the team orion stock motor from the micro RS4 works really well if you reverse the wires since the the motor originaly runs in reverse from the XMOD cars is this true?

are there any other set ups that you guys recomend i dont want to buy a premade motor (ie NML or the others) i would rather make one myself it seems like fun...

so if you guys have any suggestions please let me know thanks in advance

i have 2 4g63 AWDs

I got a motor can coming, a 130 that has bearings.
I'm not sure what else I'll put in it yet I'll figure that out later.



well I think it is coming I'll have to do a check on its status.

it was susposed to be 4g64t i have a 2001 galant that i turbo'd its almost the same as the 4g63 but its a 2.4L

You can build a better motor than a hybrid, but a hybrid is cheap and easy to do. Basically you just improve the performance of a stage 1 or 2 motor.
If you want to build a nice 130 motor from scratch, get a ball-bearing can with thin Neodymium magnets (the Yeah Racing setup is perfect), and wind a 35-40 turn armature with 28Ga wire. If you are running stock FETs, you might want to stick with 30Ga wire, to keep the current draw at a safer level.

The Team Orion 180 motor is nice, though it lacks top-end speed stock. The torque makes for very strong acceleration, especially with AWD. Winding a custom 30 turn 180 is so far the fastest thing I've been able to come up with. Best of all, that motor is safe on the stock FETs.

neurokinetik that sounds great im gonna try the 180 can but i gotta work on my winding skills first the last one didnt come out to well i saw on the mini z site that you can wind more then one wire at a time is that true?

I got it off Ebay for $6.50 plus shipping but I'm starting to doubt I'll ever see it.

Yes, they call that double winding if using two, or triple if using three wires. I wouldn't do it on stock FETs though, as the current draw will go up pretty fast with a double or triple-wound motor.

I have only been trying single motors so far, maybe I'll try a double next. 2 x 21 sounds pretty good. It'll probably draw 2A though. :lol:
