alturitave motors
after reading up a bit i've gathered that 180 motors are worth the trouble, but i've only seen that there higher tq do they have a faster top speed then a stage to motor or are they about the same? All so what this talk about re winding motors it sound interestin and i would like to give it a try if a can all information would be greatly apreciated.
one more thing are these the right 180 motors or are there better ones? Thanks Gary |
Hmmmmm that motor looks like it might work. You'll wanna ask nuerokinetic about 180 motors.
|
yeah that would probably work, the only 180 motor i've seen in a xmod is the stock micro rs4 motor.
i'm sure there are other motors that work |
you better hook the wires up backwards if you get it too reverse the polarity or your car will go the opposite direction you want it too.

The ones I've been using are the Team Orion Micro Elite stock motor. (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXBEF5&P=7) Out of the box, they don't turn the RPMs that a stage 2 does. The torque output is astounding, however. You need to use the 11 tooth pinion and blue idler gear with this motor to get the most out of it. This motor (http://www.hobbyetc.com/cgi-bin/item.cgi?part_id=7570) is the hottest 180 I have been able to find so far. At only $13, it is the same price or a bit less than an X-Speed, and it will outperform one pretty handily. |
What is the differance between the ff-180PH motor and the GPM Raing Modified motor?
|
A few thousand RPMs, and the GPM motor is also balanced, and has cooling holes. Not that it really draws enough current to need them.

35T!!!!!!!!
Wow, that would rock!!! The X-speed is 49T!! I'm worried a bit about fett roasting though, Neuro. What's the verdict on this???
|
That GPM motor draws half the current of a stage 2... it's very safe on the stock FETs. Keep in mind that the claimed 30k rpm is with six cells and running in the opposite direction that the XMods do. It is still plenty fast in the wrong direction, and running off of 4 cells, though.
|
well this is the motor that i got which i believe is the same as stock yes? but... same on me i got a 9 tooth pinion... whill it still work good? i hope so other wise i'll order another 11 tooth when i order some motors so i can test out modding motors i think im going to try rewraping and what not after i get a good amount of info/input on proper metods of going about this (without ending up with a fryed xmod).

6-cells with GPM
Well, I have 6 cells, so hopefully this thing will be a rocket. Also, hopefully it'll fit under the body with the extra 2 cells also. Are you using any heatsink on it Neuro??
Also, this says that it is running 30Krpm+ at 7.2V, I'm running 8.7V heh heh heh... I went to the hobbyetc site and checked out that motor and $6 for shipping!!!! WHAT A RIPOFF!!!! I hate that crap, just list the price of the motor as $19. It weighs less than 1 oz. so in reality it'd take a whole freakin' 35 cents to ship it anywhere in the USA. |
