returning xmods? i don't get it

this is a basic question. how can all of you return ur xmods even when youve fried them and custom modded them? if u do a 6 cell mod and fry the car, how can u take it back? also, if u lose some parts, how can u take it back also? i keep hearing people do this, but i don't know how radioshack is so ignorant or if there is a reason i don't know about.

Basically the story on returning is this: its more or less deceit, but if your conscience won't let u do it, don't try it. As long as you have the packaging material and haven't changed its outward appearance, you can basically put it all back in the box and take it back as a return. Chances are, the shakies won't ask why. Then, either get your money back, or if it was fried, ask if you can exchange it for a different model <don't tell them its fried, obviously, just tell them you'd like a different car, if they ask>. I've yet to find a shakie that opens it up and inspects the car. And if they do...run! Good luck...o yea... Lying is wrong!!!

you can go ahead and just say it doesnt work. but dont say becuase you 6 celled it. when i returned mines, the worker only asked why i was returning it. i nicely replied that it did not work. he didnt test it or anything to make sure, but it wouldnt have mattered since i already told him it didnt work. he just told me to get a new one.

OH PIMP! tell me if i can do this. wheni bought my car, the black thing in the body was snapped. when i put it on, it broke off. i tried to fix it with a dremel. now that i've dremeled it, can i return it? cause if i just turn in a body they can and most likely will look at it and see that it has been "custom modified".

DigitalFox23, can you hook us up with some Xmods? Or atleast help me get some left joint cups?

RS-XmodsGhuru 01-28-2004 02:38 AM

Here's the skinny on why the returning modded Xmods thing works:

XMods are one of the WORST QA failures in RS history. As a store manager, I can (probably shouldn't, but what the hell) tell you that on average 1 in 4 XMods is defective (NOT damaged by a mod... my first and third cars were DOA). That is why associates don't generally go over them with a fine tooth comb to see if you modded it; we see so many failed ones that one more isn't out of the ordinary.

Just don't make a habit of coming in day after day with broken ones, because while we don't pay close attention, we do notice that kind of thing. ;)

As for spare parts, I am taking inventory of what I personally have amassed from dead cars and I'll be putting all of it online for sale (well below what RS charges for the replacement parts) in the next week or two. This includes axles, motors, mounts, chassis, body tops, battery holders, crystals... pretty much everything you'd need to build one from scratch, save for the PCB (which is what fails 9 times out of 10)

RS-XmodsGhuru, how about the left joint cups?

I'd pay $4 each for those. They retail for $2.50, but 2 of my local RS said they're on backorder. :(

RS-XmodsGhuru 01-28-2004 10:26 PM

Front, rear, or both? PM me with what you want and your email and I'll send you payment instructions.

newbitowner 01-29-2004 01:19 AM
