RedLine 2.5 Series Motor w/ Installed Silver Shunts On Brushes...

1 Attachment(s)
Here is my latest Xmod Motor with Silver Shunts installed(soldered) to the brushes.. For those who dont know, Silver is better than gold or copper when it comes to conductivity with these motors.. The result is more Torque, Top End RPM , better Braking and Better efficiency.. I used this old idea from back in the day for 1/10th Pan Car Insane Speed Runs..

Here's a pic of how i did it..

How fast does that thing go?? What kind of motor did you perform it on?

Interesting, but I'd like to test one of these against a 180 motor, in an otherwise identical setup.

is it?

It looks like those are going from the brushes to the + and - contact points on the motor. Are they? How much gain did you get and where did you obtain the silver strips?

Im using silver shunts from 1/10th scale RC MOTORS where i just cut the brush contacts off and used the wire itself in soldering to the brushes on the inside and outside where the motor wires are at.. Id say about a 6 to 10% gain, although im not really great with math.. Its probably higher than 10% if you ask me.. This is just my guesstimate..:p

pretty sweet man, how dose it stack up with NML cuause he just made a motor with "Ag" brushes, lol " FYI ag = silver in chemistry

Ive been using silver slot car silver brushes for about 2 years now, ever since the Mini-Z days.. What Ive explained are the basics for people that want to know on how to install a silver shunt.. BTW, In my special motors that I onkly use, I also use slot car commutators that are rebuildable for a re-lathe.. I derive motor making from slot cars as well..

hey neuro, you should trick out a 180 motor, use that hoppin hydros as a proto(not sure if its safe ,but its worth a try), rig up some new magnets, retime and rewind, it would be affordable and would put all these overpriced ($50+)motors in their place

by my previous post i do not mean to insult you microrcracer, because youve never advertised your product...it think its lame to purchase a motorthat is the same price of the car, because the maker claims it to be faster (fraud) just my $.02

MicroRCracer 01-15-2004 01:16 PM

XXspeed,

There's nothing fraudulent about my motors... You get what you pay for with my personal signatured made motors.. If you like being slow then I cant take that away from you since thats youre choice. Im not forcing people to buy my stuff.. If u look at this thread, I never said anything about a sales pitch of trying to lure people. I even explained it on how i did it.. Atleast, like the other motor makers, they try to make it TOP SECRET where I already obtained their best motors and seen what its all about.. Believe me, Im not too impressed these days..:o

Doesn't look like the endbell even has a bearing in it. Is the armature end sitting on the plastic?
