stage 2 red or yellow?
hi all. im trying to decide if i should hook up the stage 2 red or yellow motor. red is said to have even horespower and even torque. but yellow is more horse power and even torque. shouldnt yellow be better? since it has same torque, but more horsepower.
|
I think the reds much more better than the yellow.. in my opini0n:D Go with the red
|
errr
HP???? Puh-lease... more like RPM...Would these motors even equal 1 hp?
|
hahaha, not even 1. im just putting what it says on the back of the box.
|
...
Silly Radioshack people... don't go by horsepower, go by rpms so you don't get pwned...
|
huh? stage 2 all are 30k rpm.
red:drag motor with 9-tooth fixed pinion gear gear ratio 5.11(balanced torque/balanced horespower) yellow:road race motor with 10-tooth fixed pinion gear. gear ratio 4.40(more horsepower/balanced torque) |
the motor's "hp" and "torque" refers to its top speed and acceleration capabilities...
high "hp"=more top end speed high "torque"= more acceleration go with red unless you have 5- or 6-cell mod |
ok. i guess ill go with red then. thats what everyone been telling me. thanks for helping me everyone.
|
i did some fifty foot time test and the red stage 2 motor was by far the quickest of the rs motors.
|
oh. what was the results?
|
they refer to it as hp but it is rpm hp jus sounds better hell...
if a 2hp goped weing 25 pounds with a 140 pound dude on it can go 30 imagine wat like a 16 ounce car with 1 hp could do even gas rc's have like .98 horse and they do like 40 1 would be not only a smashed chassie but a new car LOL! |
...
But horsepower isn't accurate. How stupid would it be to say," What's better, the stage two yellow 30k hp or stage 2 red 30k hp?"
Horsepower doesn't cut it. Rpm... |
Keep in mind that all the motors in a particular upgrade kit are the same (stage 1 26,000rpm, stage 2 30,000rpm) its the gear ratios that are making the difference. The 6 to 1 (white) gear ratio gives you better acceleration but less top speed. The 3.82 to 1 (blue) gear ratio gives you more top speed but the acceleration is not as good. The other two gear ratios fall somewhere in between. The best motor to use depends on the size, grip and type of track and your performance goals. Kyosho mini-z's come with several plastic pinion gears for the motor and spacers to allow you to change the gear ratio. Radio shack is doing essentially the same thing but with four of the same motors and four sets of gears. I am assuming Radio Shack took this approach because : a. the brass pinion can withstand the extra torque of the four wheel drive upgrade better than plastic, b. to make it easier for novices to understand gear ratios by color coding the motors and gears (similar to zip zaps), c. its just good marketing. or d. to make sure that the gears mesh properly.
