Motor swap..

Ok, I was wondering, what would happen if you add a hobby motor to your XMOD™? I'm talking about just a normal motor without the advil looking thing and the black thing(if anyone could please identify these for me, I would appreciate it). What would happen? I was thinking of just getting a hobby motor and just de-soldering the stock connections and just re soldering the new motor in place of the stock one.. using all stock connections, just removing stock motor and replacing w/ new one. Someone please let me know, I really want to do this, but I dont know what the outcome will be. I really dont feel like spending another 50 bux for a new xmod because I fried something. Thanx for ur help. http://tearicon.com/club3gfl/html/em...cratchhead.gif http://tearicon.com/club3gfl/html/em...s/stupido2.gif

the black thing and the advil thing are capacitors, u dont have to have them they just even out curent going into the motor and even out recever , transponder interference

they're capacitors and they suppress noise so the radio can properly receive instructions from the controller without interference

I thought only the advil thing was a capacitor.. http://tearicon.com/club3gfl/html/em...cratchhead.gif O'well. Thanx for letting me know, so if I put a new motor in there w/o the capacitors ( ;) ) nothing will fry right? Sorry, I'm not really fluent or knowledgable when it comes to electronics. All I know is + - and ESC lol.. and now thanx to you, I now know what a capacitor is. If anyone could please tell me all the abbreviations are I would appreciate it alot.. ex, PCB, MaH, and all the other ones.. thank you .

yea i have dont know the abbreviations either. it would help alot. and picture of the engine with all labeled parts would help too!

TypeZer0 12-02-2003 07:24 PM

it won't fry but range might suffer from noise going back to the ESC

PCB = printed circuit board
mAh = milli-Amp hours
Tx = transmitter
Rx = receiver

Thanks alot, so I can just hop in any motor from an old rc car and I wont fry/blow anything right?
