Quad cell mosfet SE!
 

Here it is, the fastest SE yet! Quad cell with the mosfet mod from micro_Amps. Running blue gears for the off road torque, and a purple NX motor. I will be doing some speed checking on this soon, stay tuned. It is way too fast for my kitcen floor, so I will have to try it at work sometime this week.

hey bdebde, can we see some more pics on how you setup the batteries/rear end? I'd like to know how you connected them.

Well ph2t, I don't know if pistures will help see much of how it is hooked up. I will describe it to make it easier. The 2 new cells are 70mah nimh cells about 10mm long (about like the cells in the SE. Bonus here ph2t, if you live anywhere near micro_Amps, he gets them at a local hobby shop. Anyway, the cells are taped side by side, one + and one - on each end. One end the + and - are connected together for series circuit. The other end has a lead off of each terminal. I popped the stock battery pack out of the SE and soldered the - lead from the new battery to the + end of the stock one. On the side where the switch is, there is a small orange wire that runs from the + charge terminal to the switch, this is where I attached the + lead from my new battery pack. I used some sticky tack (picture hanging putty stuff) to hold the batteries in place on top of the heatsink. I use a peak charger to charge this thing up. I used an old clone charge base and cut all the nubs and clips off (clips were actually long ago broke off from lots of use). I place the car on the base about 120 degrees counterclockwise of the normal position, making sure the + charge terminal lines up with the + on the car (on the gear side) and that the other charge terminal lines up with the front center terminal. I then use a rubber band to hold it on there to charge (was using the rubber band anyway because of the broken clips). So, here is another charger idea for you ph2t. Hope that clarifies it, if not just ask.

This thing is a bit more top heavy than stock, so it likes to flip over. I think I may try 4 button cells (laymens cells) under the pcb for a better handling ride.

Cool man, thanks for the info. Yeah my main query was to do with the batteries. I noticed in the pics you posted that they did look a lot smaller than the usual 1/3AAA batts, hence the request.

And you should be able to get them in the local hobby shop too! That is if you are not too far away from micro_Amps' local hobby shop.

I'm surprised you haven't changed the aerial on it yet. The stock zzse aerials leave much to be desired....

As a matter of fact, I was just looking at your guitar string one. I may try that. So that one stays pretty straight then? How is on rollovers? Is it stiffer than cat5 wire a lot of guys are doing? I was having trouble with the quad cell car cutting out on me in a bigger area. Haven't had time to diagnose the problem (may just be controller batteries).

The wire is tensile so it stays straight all the time. I've gone under couches, doorways, etc and it always bounces back.

can you please post some pics and a tutorial of the chargewr if it isnt to much because i can duaal tri and quad cell stuff but its the charger i dont know how to make
