lock rear diff.

can anyone explain to me how to get to the rear diff to take it out and create a posi rear?

Biohazard87 11-26-2003 05:16 PM

i took apart the entire rear end and opened the back gear and put paper in the gears inside the big gear to lock the rear end up. The only prob is the handling sucked cuz it would just spin out every time you tried to turn. I took it out and i decieded that if your going to drag race then its better to have posi rear end but for normal racing its better to just leave that gear alone:eek:

thanks Biohazard87, is that the only way that you know of to get to it?? i was trying to get around that cause once i take it apart i might not remember how to get it all back together lol i dont have a very good memeory when it comes to screws and where they go

You could put a really heavy/thick grease in there and it would provide similar results while enabling better handling, depending on how much or how thick the grease is.

I took the rear differential apart and used chewing gum. Weird, but true. This morning, I had the idea to drip hot wax in there and let it dry, but I didn't bother.

i did that too. it worked great but it had a slight vibration due to the uneven glue placement
