rear wings, whats the point?

ok i have two questions. first do xmods go fast enough to make the wings put downforce on the cars? and secondly i hear you have you drill holes in your trunk to put them on. in which if they do then i would not want to put on a wing because i could not revert back to no wing.

The wings are srtrictly asthetic. My Skyline came with holes in the trunk for the wing. I don't know about the others though. PEACE

Skylines and both Supras already come with holes drilled, because they have wings on them stock. The RSX and both Civics do not have holes drilled in them, as they do not have wings stock. Drilling the holes for the wings is easy (I have an RSX), all you have to do is find the little indentations underneath the roof, use the drill bit size they tell you and drill away! To you first question-looks only

Believe it or not, the wings might actually make a difference. I know that my 1/12th scale car handled noticably different with different bodies and wing configurations, and after installing the short wing on my RSX, it seems to understeer at high speeds, which it never did without the wing. That was with an unchanged suspension setup.

I have the white Supra, and if you wanna use the "aluminum" wing that comes with the body kit you will have to drilll for those, other than that the stocky and other eing in the kit fit perfectly in the stock location. And also i think the wings do have a difference when i was driving mine around yesterday with the aluminum wing it wouldnt whip around like it did with the drag style wing that ive had on there. So i think it does make a difference, but hats just me, either way the wings look cool if done right. even the aluminum one.

I dont think that the spoilers dont do much. Also for civics you need to drill holes in order to place the spoilers on.

your car should go faster without the wings because it is less weight

halo666 11-24-2003 09:38 PM

im stickin w/ the above post. I'm sure the wings aren't made to create downforce. that would be stupid. Its all about looks.

wing makes it easier to drift. although it may not be alot, it will be .000000000000000034% easier to drift WITH a wing. if you dont have a wing, you can say goodbye to that .000000000000000034% .

That's funny, but how would a wing make easier to drift? extra weight=better traction=drifters enemy.

Daazndood 11-26-2003 01:13 AM

well, the weight is in the back, making the back swing out easier? its like moving the battery cargo to the rear.

Ace25 11-26-2003 09:44 AM

actually, the wings will make a diff. You have to think scale, our cars are 1:24, so for every 1 mph that we see them moving, to them they are moving at 24 mph and air is rushing over them at that speed so the wings provide downforce at such scales. Its all simple logic.:)

hmmmmmmm.......so does that mean the wings on my bits and zzs work too?????;) :D lol......

May the down force be with you

I stand corrected. I did about an hour worth of research on the net and came up with many articles related to this topic. It's almost mind boggling when you start to really think about it. Good luck with all the math.:D PEACE
