Broken body mount tab :-(
Hello everyone, I'm new to micro r/c.
I ordered my first microsizer last week and also picked up a zz from radio shack. I have to say these addictive little cars are a blast… I received my microsizer last night and what a fast little car it is, I’m very impressed and definitely like the microsizer more than the zz except for the body mount tab in the rear. The second time I removed the body the rear tab broke off. Now the motor and body won’t stay attached. Are there any fixes for this? It’s only 24 hours old, I’d hate to scrap it already. I was hoping to buy some more as gifts for Christmas, but now I’m not so sure. Any ideas?? |
umm...do u mean u broke the body, or the chassis?
well if u broke the body...well...some poster puddy will make it stay on :D |
Broken chassis
It is the tab on the chassis that broke off :-(
|
umm.....hmmm...jeez thats a toughie
id try using the superglue that bonds plastic to plastic...but if u apply too much pressure when u take the body on/off...u could break it again.. |
yeah take the heatsink and motor out then use some crazy glue or super glue and put it back in place, i did it with my bullet and it worked like a gem...:D
|
Happened to one of my first bits as well... :( I tried glueing it but it never stayed. So I just made that metal tab on the heat sink straight and bent it down into the body then just used tape to hold it down with the motor in.

Drkram,
Hold to you keep the body attached? |
USe epoxy instead of super glue.

Ultimate fix !
I solved the problem...sortof :-)
I went to my LHS and bought another one! I will still try to fix the one I have, and if that doesn't work I'll use it for donor parts. The Bit Zip conversion that Kyle has performed looks interesting. A friend first told me about Bits a few months ago and I checked out some web sites and reviews (including this one), but never really did anything about it. But within a week I've ordered and received a Microsizer, bought a new ZipZap, tuner kit, FF tuner kit, ordered two of the $10 bits on sale from HLJ and now bought a second replacement Microsizer....much more than I planned to. An addictive hobby! I am having a blast trying out different car setups and seeing the difference on various track surfaces and layouts. Sometimes I'm really dissapointed with how a car is handling and start thinking that these little cars are crap...then after tweaking the motor-tire-gearing for a given track I realize how fricken great they are again. Well, thanks for all the tips on how to fix the broken car, I will try to fix it with epoxy.... but if not I will put the parts to good use. |
Great support from Microsizer!!
Well, I had entered a technical support claim via the microsizer website the same day I originated this thread.
I received an e-mail from them today saying they are sending out a new chassis. I am very impressed with the support from them and urge anyone with problems to contact them via their website. |
