Chassis lightening

can someone plz post instruction on how to lighten the chassis, ie. remove this and replace that with something kinda thing, i think it would be very helpful and useful for those people who are trying to get the most out of their car

Char-g Ace 11-17-2003 06:39 PM

get a dremel and chop everything off u dont need

platinum_player 11-17-2003 07:21 PM

well, i hope anyone can do that, but i want someone to put picks of the parts that they r removing and replacing, like all of the parts that do nothing all that important, personally i would love something like this i don't know about you

ViperKid 11-17-2003 08:41 PM

let's see...

motor- useless
batteries- don't need 'em
gears- pointless
electronics- just for looks
wheels and tires- no need for them

you can cut out all of this stuff but make sure you don't cut out all the other parts, they are important:D :D

if you really take all this stuff out, you don't deserve to have an Xmod:D

Thank you viperkid, i don't know what i would do without you, you helped me so much. Now, here's an idea, why don't you die, i'm trying to help other people out and learn something myself, and you are the kind of person that ruins these forums for others, your so cool

Well, since everything in the chassis is important, you could shave down the inside of the body to make it lighter. And dont use the body kits because it weighs down the car even more.

Things to lighten up an Xmod off the top of my head.

Glue the body pieces together lose the screws and dremel everything you can to save weight. You could even cut out the windows completely and use lexan or nothing at all.

You could drill holes in the front upper chassis brace.
Some people remove it but they havent figured out or dont care that it holds the front of the steering servo down.(I like my steering servo tight)

You could drill holes in the heatsink that is under the RX.(its aluminum but could be lightened I guess)

You could drill holes in various none structural places on the chassis.

The easiest thing so far that I have done is install my carbon fiber center shafts that I now sell.

viperkilla 11-18-2003 03:43 PM

How much are you selling the carbon fiber center shafts for?

platinum_player 11-18-2003 04:28 PM

that's what i wanna know, and where can i get one

I'm selling the three shafts as a set, one shaft of each length for $10.00 shipped.(3 shafts, one of each length, $10.00)

Ok...I dont think that this thread has a point now, other than slugbugg talking about the shafts. We need a moderator up in here.

slugbugg 11-18-2003 09:45 PM

I still think gluing the body parts together and doing some serious plastic mining "LOL" will shed alot of weight.

I havnt done this yet but I will be doing it soon, as soon as I start putting my supra back together.
