150maH batteries
http://www.mrnicd-ehyostco.com/newpage3.htm
Scroll down to the bottom and you'll find 150maH 1/3aaa NIMH batteries. The ordering is kinda scary.. no online ordering; have to call 800 number which seems to be answered at a residence by some elderly lady. She seemed knowledgeable about order tho, like solder tabs or no tabs and shipping prices ($4 minimum flat fee). My credit card has an insurance protection plan against fraud but hopefully I won't need it. When/if I get mine I'll let you know if there's any difference b/w these and the 120maH's sold in the tinyrc shop. If they really are 150maH that'd be a 25% gain in capacity vs the shop ones and a 300% gain vs the stock NiCd's. Tinyrc, if these seem legit you could check on stocking these in the shop as well. This site is the only place I've found that carries these besides tgworks.com which recently shut down. More later... |
Psssst! Tiny is already looking at a higher capacity offering! HIGHER than 150mAH!!!
...I've said too much already! Shhhhh! |
actofgod, as Namuna mentioned, we're working on getting even higher capacity ones! Personally I've found Batteries America quite hard to deal with.
|
That'd be great! Is it really a secret what type/ capacity you're trying to get though? Now I'm curious...

update
Got the new batts in the mail today. Test results w/ 2.2 motor and orange gears, running in a circle the entire time:
fully charged run time, average of two tries: stock NiCd 50maH: 2 min 04 sec tinyrc.com NiMH 120 maH: 4 min 52 sec batt.amer NiMH 150 maH: 6 min 3 sec Both NiMH batts start slowing down when they have less than 20% or so left, while the NiCd seems to go full out until it quits, so the NiMH's aren't quite as good as they look. I'm satisfied with my purchase for now, but I'm still wondering what this "mystery battery" you two mentioned is... can you share any more details plz?????? |
Hmmm, interesting that you got those results AOG.
It's usually the OPPOSITE result. As NiCds gradually lose voltage over the course of the runtime...But NiMH are the ones that pretty much maintain voltage through the entire run and the last 20 seconds or so it'll drop power quickly and die. |
actofgod, when you say fully charged run time .. what exactly do you mean? Did you charge the 120mah and 150mah batteries longer? I (and others) have found that one can increase the run time of the stock battery by charging twice.
Thanks for the info. |
I charged the 150mah's about 3.5 full 45-sec cycles, and the 120mah one about 3 cycles. I figured since 45 sec fills up a 50mah stock, 3 of those should fill up 150mah. Then I added a little extra just to make sure it was charged to the max.
Oh btw.. this is an old thread, but after I originally posted this, namuna and tinyrc said they were getting something better than 150mah.. but next thing I see is 150mah for sale in shop. You still working on this..? |
Show me that battery in 2.4V+ varieties. :D It would eliminate the need for a dual cell, wouldn't it?
|
Just got a handfull of those. They work great. Buying wasn't a hassle.
|
How much did they charge you for shipping? Did you call the 800 number or order off the web?
Thanks. |
I ordered with the 800 number (this was before they had it available for purchase online) and paid $4 shipping (flat fee) for 2 batts.
They've changed the description of this battery. Right at the top of the page it says, "NOW IN STOCK: Batteries for the Zip Zap mini race cars: Our part # AP150AAAHST. (1/3AAA Nickel Metal Hydride Cell - 150mAh capacity. Choose plain (flat top) or with Solder Tabs. Very rare, and in stock ! Now $ 2.25 ea. BUY" So I guess someone informed them that these are for micro RC cars. I don't know about "very rare" but whatever.. at least they've lowered the price $0.25 per batt. |
