tried to paint supra...disaster struck

well, i had it painted nice and black and i tried clearcoating it with spray can stuff. i tried testor's and duplicolor spray can clear coats. both kept wrinkling the paint so i had to keep sanding it a little and repainting it. well, my friend suggested i heat it at a low temp to speed up the curing process. guess what? CHEAP RADIOSHACK PLASTIC!!!. at about 100 degrees fahrenheit for 2 minutes, this is what happened:

?????????????

what kind of plastic do you know of that will withstand 100 deg for even half a minute? pure genius

TypeZer0 11-10-2003 09:53 PM

actually, some people who paints models heat it up at low temp to speed up the curing process like i tried. the one difference is they had high quality plastics and radioshack had cheap plastics

kingcobra 11-10-2003 09:57 PM

ya....

I have done it...but you use a gas oven and you only barely turn it on AND you leave the door open all the way to do it...any plastic will melt with that kind of heat

Flashgore 11-10-2003 10:10 PM

kingcobra, you really have a problem, get off everyones back and stop putting everything down that someone does, if thats all you can do, then just leave.

kingcobra 11-10-2003 10:11 PM

?

what? do you have the right to tell someone to leave? are you a moderator? I submit that you are not! so spare me your power trip...

Flashgore 11-10-2003 10:15 PM

I never said you had to leave, but to do everyone a favor, leave if your going to keep putting people down like that, so everythings not perfect. GET OFF IT.

kingcobra 11-10-2003 10:20 PM

.

I DID NOT put anyone down all I did was provide the proper directions for "heating" a painted body...

NissanSERspecV 11-10-2003 10:35 PM

look at the bright side, the paint looks good. LMAO!!!

kingcobra 11-10-2003 10:37 PM

ya...

nothing like a baked enamel finish...lol

itsme 11-10-2003 11:06 PM

...

Dude, try to use the same brand paint and finisher unless it's a known fact that they mix good.

TypeZer0 11-10-2003 11:18 PM

actually, the first clearcoat was the same brand as the paint i used. well, i bought a third clearcoat but this time it's not a spray, comes in teh same bottles as the black paint i used. too bad i coudlnt' try it out

itsme 11-10-2003 11:38 PM

one mo thing

My dad is painting a car and he doesn't keep the temperature above 80 degrees in the garage...so I'm not sure why you'd put it at 100 when it's plastic. Patience my friend, patience...
