ZipZap or XMod?

ZipZap or XMod?

cisco 11-07-2003 08:24 PM

Xmod.

viperkilla 11-07-2003 08:26 PM

What do you mean by XMOD or Zip Zaps? Which one is better?

Strider 11-07-2003 08:42 PM

Yes which is better?

neurokinetik 11-07-2003 08:43 PM

There is no comparison. XMods all the way. If not for racing, then they still make better cat toys.

Strider 11-07-2003 08:49 PM

This sucks so so wish I could buy an XMod but my mom wont let me buy anything because shes already ordering presents for Christmas...

TypeZer0 11-07-2003 08:49 PM

you can't compare the two. one's 1/64, the other's 1/28 scale. they're in two different classes. if you have trouble deciding, try out the store demo and see which one you like more. go when it's a lil slow that day so they would be more willing to let you test drive it than if the store is busy

no brainer...

ZZ SE is $25....can't run too well on carpet....can stick an extra motor or gears in it and perhaps another battery, hell some people even get creative and add light kits etc...to it, but hell even with a fast enough motor it doesn't do anything but flip over once you try to turn it. Don't get me wrong...they're fun I have 5 of them, but they're best for playing around on the gym floor at school or on the garage floor at home because they won't run on concrete either.

the Xmod is $50 but and you can still add a new motor and gears, but you can also make it all-wheel-drive. It's also big enough to where it'll run on carpet or concrete though...

Here's the lowdown.......The ZZ is used to be cool to show off when it was one of the first 1/64 or smaller car in the USA like along with the microsizer..etc....now there are a ton of generics. The good thing is that 90% of these generics you can swap parts around on them....

The Xmod is cool because it's bigger, faster and you can do a bit more with it, but you'll eventually get bored with it too after a while...

My suggestion: If you are 8-12 years old or in your mid 20s or older, go with the X-mod because it'll be fun to tinker with and keep you occupied for awhile.

If you are under 8 years old, are REAL short on cash or are in your mid 20s or older go with a ZipZap because all your friends will think it's cool how tiny and fully functional it is and it'll keep you occupied for a while

If you are over 12 years old and want something REALLY fun that will be fun for a LONG time then go to your local hobby shop and buy a 1/10 scale or bigger electric car, truck, buggy or MONSTER TRUCK and go nuts with it until you can afford to drop $500 on a gas powered RC car and all of the accessories. Be prepaired to spend from $100-$300 on an electric vehicle though!

P.S. This is a KID asking our opinion here, I don't know how old ya'all are but don't patronize him...treat him with dignity...okay?
That's why I answered his question TRUTHFULLY!

Thanks theMonster that helped a LOT. I already know quite a bit about RC cars as my brother has a huge $400 monster truck. I really like these though because they are $50, nice cars, and are very cheapily customizable. I do have an old edition ZipZap but just bought a ZipZap SE and the light broke so I am taking it back, was hoping to get a refund and buy an XMod but I guess it wont be happening because my mom won't let me...

p.s. I am 13, 14 in two months.

viperkilla 11-07-2003 10:00 PM

Well you cant really compare the 2. Like TypeZer0 said they are 2 totally different r/c's. Its like comparing a monster truck to a honda civic.

Micro S2000 11-08-2003 02:33 AM

but you can compare what you'd rather have, one person may rather drive a civic. another might want to run over every thing in its path. personally i love my xmod, since i got it i havent driven my microsizer

Firepony 11-08-2003 04:22 AM

My self I had a ZipZap accually gave it away to a 8 year old made his life hehe. I love my X-mod I have had a lot of fun with it and yah I could probly afford a Mini Z and all the parts, but here is what has made it so fun for me. My friends can afford x-mods and we drive them around a tennis court every night. and over all thats what makes it fun. Yes I also have a Tmaxx gas truck and a smaller statium truck they were fun and I enjoyed them but its no fun to drive all alone for me.

viperkilla 11-08-2003 07:20 AM

Yea I guess I like XMODS, but I probably am going back to zip zaps later on to do somemods.

Tee Bee 11-09-2003 10:31 AM

Me, I likes'em all! On the right surface, at the right place, and the right time, they're all fun. On my porch, the XMods and Mini-z's are a blast. On a smooth floor or big table top, I enjoy running the Zips. I keep a ZZSE at work just to run on the big table top on breaks. I don't run my regular Zips as much any more, but still enjoy having the collection, especially the original Fast and Furious stuff since it's hard to find these days.

I had a quesiton and this seems sort of like the right thread to put it in. My girlfriend seems to mess up my xmods everytime she touches them. She broke one and messed up another. I just got done building a track in my garage and now she really wants to get her hands on my xmods to use on the track. I was thinking about picking up a couple zip-zaps for her and I to mess around on the track just to try to save my xmods. I was wondering if zip-zaps would run ok on a really smooth surface like that and if they could handle a 10'x15' course? Please help, I cringe everytime i see her run full speed into the wall.
