Hot Controller!
 

I just bought a honda civic XMOD last week and it was working fine until I ran it on Sunday night. The battery in the transmitter got extremely hot :eek: so I turned the controller off and tried to pry open the bottom of the controller but I had a real difficult time popping it open. Anyway, when I finally opened it up, I found that the heat had warped the battery so much that it was impossible to get it out of the controller . . . What the? I was using the Radio Shack 9 volt NIMH battery as well, so I have no idea what was wrong with the thing. It also got really hot when I put a regular Energizer 9 volt in the controller, but I was able to get the battery out before anything happened.

Anyway, this little story does have a happy ending though . . . I went to Radio Shack this morning and the nice people there offered me an exchange on the spot, they didn't even ask for my receipt. They even replaced my battery. Radio Shack has some great customer service! :D My civic was a bit banged up anyway; the only pain was that I had to remove the AWD, stage 2 motor and heat sink, plus my shocks, wheels and tie rods as well. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to wrench on it again . . .

Has this happened to anyone else?

hasnt happend to me but working on my skyline is the biggest pain. taking out the AWD, Ball bearings, suspension and tie rods. especially when all of thescrew heads are stripped

Everybody needs a set of these for working on XMods... you'll never strip another screw, and they're much more comfortable to use. The set I have is the same, only without the Torx drivers. This set sells for $20 at Sears, but a five piece set sells for $10.

well i'm not saying they're bad or anything but rs is the only place that sells xmods so i dunno why they would need a receipt since it's not like u coulda bought it elsewhere.

It uses java and cookies. Otherwise I could have just posted the link. :mad: I went to www.craftsman.com, tools & equipment, hand tools general, screwdrivers, micro screwdrivers.

I use a set of jeweler's screwdrivers. I got them from dollar store. They seem to work well.
